这是素来欢乐安然居住的城，心里说：“惟有我，除我以外再没有别的。”现在何竟荒凉成为野兽躺卧之处！凡经过的人都必摇手嗤笑她。

凡过路的都向你拍掌。他们向耶路撒冷城嗤笑，摇头，说：“难道人所称为全美的，称为全地所喜悦的，就是这城吗？”你的仇敌都向你大大张口；他们嗤笑，又切齿说：“我们吞灭她。这真是我们所盼望的日子临到了！我们亲眼看见了！”

我要使地成为荒场，住在其上的仇敌就因此诧异。

耶和华说：“我岂不因这些事讨他们的罪呢？岂不报复这样的国民呢？“我要为山岭哭泣悲哀，为旷野的草场扬声哀号；因为都已干焦，甚至无人经过。人也听不见牲畜鸣叫，空中的飞鸟和地上的野兽都已逃去。我必使耶路撒冷变为乱堆，为野狗的住处，也必使犹大的城邑变为荒场，无人居住。”

就是耶路撒冷和犹大的城邑，并耶路撒冷的君王与首领，使这城邑荒凉，令人惊骇、嗤笑、咒诅，正如今日一样。
