外頭有刀劍、內室有恐怖，使壯丁和處女、喫奶的同白髮的、盡都喪亡。

但萬軍之永恆主、按公義判斷的啊，試驗人心腸心思的啊，我卻要見你在他們身上加以報復；因為我已將我的案件向你稟明。因此永恆主論到那些尋索你性命的亞拿突人、就是那樣說：「你不要奉永恆主的名傳神言，免得你死在我們手中」的、是這麼說：——因此萬軍之永恆主這麼說：『看吧，我必察罰他們；他們的青年人必死於刀下；他們的兒女必在饑荒中滅盡；必沒有餘剩的人留給他們；因為當他們被察罰的年日、我必使災禍臨到亞拿突人。』

因此永恆主使迦勒底人的王上來攻擊他們，就在他們聖所的殿裏用刀殺了他們的壯丁，不顧惜壯丁或處女、老邁的或衰弱的；永恆主把這一切人都交在迦勒底王手裏。

然而永恆主與我同在，他是大能大力者、威武可畏者；因此逼迫我的都必絆跌，不能得勝。他們必極其慚愧，蒙受永不能忘的羞慚，因為他們行事不聰明。萬軍之永恆主，試驗義人的啊，察看人心腸心思的啊，讓我見你在他們身上加以報復哦，因為我已將我的案件向你稟明。

祭司音麥的兒子巴施戶珥、做永恆主之殿的總管，聽見耶利米對這些事傳了神言。巴施戶珥就擊打神言人耶利米，將他枷在便雅憫上門內的枷架上；這門是在永恆主的殿內。第二天巴施戶珥將耶利米從枷架上放出來，於是耶利米對他說：『永恆主不把你的名叫巴施戶珥，乃叫做四圍恐怖。因為永恆主這麼說：看吧，我必使你和一切友愛你的人都覺得恐怖；他們必倒斃在他們的仇敵刀下，你必親眼看見。我必將猶大人全交在巴比倫王手中；他必使他們流亡到巴比倫去，用刀擊殺他們。我必將這城的一切資財、一切勞碌得來的、它的一切珍寶、和猶大列王的一切寶物、都交在他們仇敵手中；仇敵必將這一切當作掠物，帶到巴比倫去。你呢、巴施戶珥啊，你和一切住在你家的人、也必被擄而去，你和一切友愛你的，就是你向他們傳假神言的那些人。你要去的是巴比倫；你就是必死在那裏，必埋葬在那裏。』

銅匠亞力山大多多地加害於我；主必照他所行的報應他。

但你呢，永恆主啊，你深知我；你看透我，你察驗我對你怎樣；求你將他們拉出來、如拉屠宰的羊，將他們分別出來、以備殺戮之日。

他們若問你說：「我們要出去到哪裏呢？」你便對他們說：「永恆主這麼說：『那該遭疫癘的，就遭疫癘；該被刀殺的、就被刀殺；該受饑荒的，就受饑荒；該被擄的，就被擄。』」』永恆主發神諭說：『我派了四種類來罰他們：刀劍來殺戮，狗來拖拉，空中的飛鳥和地上的野獸來吞喫來毁滅。
