but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would.

義人離義行惡，必因惡行而死亡。

耶和華必把那些偏行惡道的人與作惡的人一同趕走。願平安臨到以色列。

撒母耳一直到死沒有再見掃羅，但他為掃羅哀傷。耶和華後悔立掃羅做以色列王。

只吩咐他們，『你們要聽從我的話，我就做你們的上帝，你們做我的子民；你們遵行我的吩咐，就必蒙福。』他們卻掩耳不聽，一意孤行，任意行惡，越來越壞。從你們的祖先離開埃及那天起，一直到今天，我日復一日地差遣我的僕人——眾先知到你們那裡，但你們掩耳不聽，頑固不化，比你們的祖先更邪惡。耶利米啊，你將這番話告訴他們，他們也不會聽；你向他們呼籲，他們也不會回應。你要對他們說，『你們這些國民不聽你們上帝耶和華的話，不肯受管教，口中毫無真理。

剷除離棄我、不尋求我、不求問我的人。」

他們絕對看不到我起誓要賜給他們祖先的土地，藐視我的人都看不到那片土地。這些人見過我的榮耀，見過我在埃及和曠野所行的神蹟，卻仍然不聽我的話，試探我十次之多。

你們打探了那地方四十天，你們要為自己的罪受苦四十年，一年頂一天。那時，你們就知道與我為敵的後果。』

到了一月七日，要同樣為一切在無意和無知中犯罪的人贖罪，使聖殿保持潔淨。
