For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won’t cease from yielding fruit.

必猶林木、植於水濱、盤根河畔、不畏炎熱、其葉青葱、旱歲無虞、結實不息、

譬彼林木、植於溪旁、根延河畔、雖經炎熱、雖歷亢陽、不受其害、枝葉青蒼、結果不息。

必如樹木栽於水旁、根延河畔、不見炎熱、其葉青葱、乾旱之年、無所憂慮、結果不息、○

They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

The pine trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.’“ Therefore thus said the Lord Yahweh:‘ Because you are exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

By the river on its bank, on this side and on that side, will grow every tree for food, whose leaf won’t wither, neither will its fruit fail. It will produce new fruit every month, because its waters issue out of the sanctuary. Its fruit will be for food, and its leaf for healing.”

But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox. I am anointed with fresh oil.My eye has also seen my enemies. My ears have heard of the wicked enemies who rise up against me.The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.They are planted in Yahweh’s house. They will flourish in our God’s courts.They will still produce fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green,to show that Yahweh is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

He is green before the sun. His shoots go out along his garden.

This is Yahweh’s word that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.“ Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up.Their nobles send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.
