They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

耶和華必時常引導你，在乾旱之地使你心滿意足，又使你骨頭強壯。你必如有水澆灌的園子，又像水流不絕的泉源。

眾水使它生長，深水使它長高；所栽之地有江河環繞，汊出的水道流至田野的樹木。所以它高大超過田野的樹木；生長時因水源豐沛，枝子繁多，枝條增長。空中所有的飛鳥在枝子上搭窩，野地所有的走獸在枝條下生子，所有的大國也在它的蔭下居住。它樹大枝長，極為榮美，因它的根在眾水之旁。神園中的香柏樹不能遮蔽它；松樹不及它的枝子，楓樹不及它的枝條，神園中的樹都沒有它榮美。我使它枝條繁多，極為榮美；在神的園中，伊甸所有的樹都嫉妒它。」所以主耶和華如此說：「因它高大，樹頂高聳入雲，心高氣傲，

河這邊與那邊的岸上必生長各類樹木，可作食物；葉子不枯乾，果子不斷絕。每月必結新果子，因為這水是從聖所流出來的。樹上的果子必作食物，葉子可以治病。」

你卻高舉了我的角，如野牛的角；我是被新油膏抹的。我的眼睛看見我的仇敵遭報，我的耳朵聽見那些起來攻擊我的惡人受罰。義人要興旺如棕樹，生長如黎巴嫩的香柏樹。他們栽於耶和華的殿中，發旺在我們神的院裏。他們髮白的時候仍結果子，而且鮮美多汁，好顯明耶和華是正直的；他是我的磐石，在他毫無不義。

他在日光之下茂盛，嫩枝在園中蔓延；

耶和華的話臨到耶利米，論到旱災的事：「猶大悲哀，城門衰敗；眾人坐在地上哀慟，耶路撒冷的哀聲上達。他們的貴族打發僮僕去打水；他們來到水池，找不到水，就拿着空器皿，蒙羞慚愧，抱頭而回。因為無雨降在地上，土地就乾裂，農夫為此蒙羞抱頭。田野的母鹿因為無草也撇棄才生的小鹿。野驢站在光禿的高地喘氣，好像野狗；牠們的眼目因無草而失明。」
