眾水使它長大，深淵使它長高；有江河從深淵流出環繞它栽種之地，又有支流延到田間的眾樹。因此，它樹身高大，高過田間的眾樹；它發旺生長的時候，因為水源豐足，所以枝子繁多，枝條長長。空中的飛鳥都在枝上搭窩；田野的走獸都在枝條下生產；所有大國都在它的樹蔭下居住。它樹身高大，枝條長長而顯得秀美，因為它的根扎在水多的地方。神園中的香柏樹不能與它相比，松樹比不上它的枝子；楓樹也不及它的枝條；神園中所有的樹木都比不上它的秀美。我使它因枝條繁多而顯得秀美，以致在神的園中，伊甸所有的樹木都嫉妒它。“‘因此，主耶和華這樣說：因為它樹身高大，樹頂在茂密的枝葉之上，又因它高大而心驕氣傲，

在河這邊和那邊的岸上，都必有各種果樹生長，可作食物，樹上的葉子不枯乾，果子也不斷絕。每月必結出新果子，因為樹所需的水是從聖所裡流出來的。樹上的果子可作食物，葉子可以治病。”

你卻高舉了我的角，像野牛的角；你用新油膏抹我。我親眼看見那些窺伺我的人遭報，我親耳聽見那些起來攻擊我的惡人受罰。義人必像棕樹一樣繁茂，像黎巴嫩的香柏樹一樣高聳。他們栽在耶和華的殿中，在我們神的院子裡繁茂生長。他們年老的時候仍要結果子，經常保持茂盛青翠，好顯明耶和華是正直的；他是我的磐石，在他裡面沒有不義。

他在陽光之下，枝潤葉青，它的嫩枝長滿園子，

耶和華的話臨到耶利米，是關於旱災的事：“猶大悲哀，她的城鎮（“城鎮”原文作“城門”）衰落，人人都坐在地上悲傷痛哭；耶路撒冷的哀聲上達於天。他們的顯貴差派童僕去打水；童僕來到池邊，卻找不到水，就拿著空的器皿回來；他們失望難過，蒙著自己的頭。土地乾裂，因為地上沒有雨水；農夫失望，都蒙著自己的頭。甚至母鹿在田野生產了小鹿，也得把牠丟棄，因為沒有青草。野驢站在光禿的高岡上，像野狗喘著氣；牠們雙目發呆，因為沒有青草。”
