在河这边和那边的岸上，都必有各种果树生长，可作食物，树上的叶子不枯干，果子也不断绝。每月必结出新果子，因为树所需的水是从圣所里流出来的。树上的果子可作食物，叶子可以治病。”

你却高举了我的角，像野牛的角；你用新油膏抹我。我亲眼看见那些窥伺我的人遭报，我亲耳听见那些起来攻击我的恶人受罚。义人必像棕树一样繁茂，像黎巴嫩的香柏树一样高耸。他们栽在耶和华的殿中，在我们神的院子里繁茂生长。他们年老的时候仍要结果子，经常保持茂盛青翠，好显明耶和华是正直的；他是我的磐石，在他里面没有不义。

耶和华的话临到耶利米，是关于旱灾的事：“犹大悲哀，她的城镇（“城镇”原文作“城门”）衰落，人人都坐在地上悲伤痛哭；耶路撒冷的哀声上达于天。他们的显贵差派童仆去打水；童仆来到池边，却找不到水，就拿着空的器皿回来；他们失望难过，蒙着自己的头。土地干裂，因为地上没有雨水；农夫失望，都蒙着自己的头。甚至母鹿在田野生产了小鹿，也得把它丢弃，因为没有青草。野驴站在光秃的高冈上，像野狗喘着气；它们双目发呆，因为没有青草。”
