它在河流和深泉的滋潤下茁壯成長，溪流四圍環繞它，澆灌著林間的樹木。充足的水源使它高過田間所有的樹木，枝子長得又粗又長。空中的飛鳥都在它的枝頭上搭窩，田間的野獸都在它的樹蔭下生產，所有的大國都住在它的蔭下。它高大美麗，枝幹修長，因為樹根深入水源，連上帝園中的香柏樹也不能與它相比。松樹不能與它的枝幹相比，楓樹不能與它的枝條相比，主耶和華園中的樹木沒有一棵能與它媲美。我使它枝繁葉茂，美麗無比，以致上帝伊甸園裡的樹木都羡慕它。』「因此，主耶和華說，『因為它樹幹高大，樹梢高聳入雲，心高氣傲，

沿河兩岸長著各種果樹，樹的葉子不會枯乾，果實也不會斷絕。樹必月月結出新果，不但果實可吃，葉子還可作藥用，因為這水是從聖所流出來的。」

你使我強壯如野牛，你用新油澆灌我。我親眼看見我的敵人被擊潰，親耳聽見那些攻擊我的惡人被打敗。義人必如生機勃勃的棕櫚樹，像茁壯生長的黎巴嫩香柏樹。他們栽在耶和華的殿中，他們在我們上帝的院子裡長得枝繁葉茂。他們到老仍然結果子，一片青翠，宣揚說：「耶和華公正無私，祂是我的磐石，祂裡面毫無不義。」

他像陽光下生機勃勃的植物，枝條爬滿了園囿，

耶和華告訴耶利米有關旱災的事：「猶大充滿悲泣，她的城邑衰敗，人人坐在地上痛哭，耶路撒冷哀鳴四起。貴族派僕人去水池打水，僕人去那裡發現沒有水，就帶著空瓶垂頭喪氣、羞愧難當地回去了。天不下雨，土地乾裂，農夫沮喪地抱著頭。因為沒有草，田野的母鹿拋棄了剛生下來的小鹿；因為沒有草，野驢站在光禿的山頭上像豺狼一樣喘氣，雙目無神。」
