My mountain in the land and your wealth and all your treasures I will give away as plunder, together with your high places, because of sin throughout your country.

I will give away my holy Mount Zion to the Babylonians. Your enemies will carry off your wealth and all your treasures. I will give away your high places. That will happen because you have sinned. You have done it throughout your country.

Isn’t it Jerusalem?Therefore, I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the countryside, a planting area for a vineyard. I will roll her stones into the valley and expose her foundations.All her carved images will be smashed to pieces; all her wages will be burned in the fire, and I will destroy all her idols. Since she collected the wages of a prostitute, they will be used again for a prostitute.

I will destroy your high places, cut down your shrines, and heap your lifeless bodies on the lifeless bodies of your idols; I will reject you.

Peoples will stream to it,and many nations will come and say,“ Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about his ways so we may walk in his paths.” For instruction will go out of Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

You are to say: Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD! This is what the Lord GOD says to the mountains and the hills, to the ravines and the valleys: I am about to bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.

Therefore Jacob’s iniquity will be atoned for in this way, and the result of the removal of his sin will be this: when he makes all the altar stones like crushed bits of chalk, no Asherah poles or incense altars will remain standing.

Now the Chaldeans broke into pieces the bronze pillars of the LORD’s temple, the water carts, and the bronze basin, which were in the LORD’s temple, and carried the bronze to Babylon.They also took the pots, shovels, wick trimmers, dishes, and all the bronze articles used in the priests’ service.The captain of the guards took away the firepans and sprinkling basins— whatever was gold or silver.As for the two pillars, the one basin, and the water carts that Solomon had made for the LORD’s temple, the weight of the bronze of all these articles was beyond measure.

Over all the barren heights in the wilderness the destroyers have come, for the LORD has a sword that devours from one end of the earth to the other. No one has peace.

Because of this, our heart is sick; because of these, our eyes grow dim:because of Mount Zion, which lies desolate and has jackals prowling in it.

The adversary has seized all her precious belongings. She has even seen the nations enter her sanctuary— those you had forbidden to enter your assembly.

He appointed his beautiful ornaments for majesty, but they made their detestable images from them, their abhorrent things. Therefore, I have made these into something filthy to them.I will hand these things over to foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will profane them.I will turn my face from them as they profane my treasured place. Violent men will enter it and profane it.
