A wise[ man] will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.

Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending[ them], saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
