「『可是，他們的子孫卻背叛我，不恪守我的律例，不謹遵我的典章——遵守的人必活著。他們褻瀆我的安息日。我本想在曠野向他們發烈怒，傾倒我的怒氣，

他們不是面向我而是背對我，我不厭其煩地教導他們，他們卻不肯聽，不受教。

「你們這些頑固不化、耳不聽心不悔的人，經常抗拒聖靈，所作所為和你們的祖先如出一轍！

我以為這城一定會敬畏我，接受管教，這樣我就不必照所定的毀滅她。然而，他們卻更加熱衷於犯罪作惡。

他們卻掩耳不聽，一意孤行，任意行惡，越來越壞。從你們的祖先離開埃及那天起，一直到今天，我日復一日地差遣我的僕人——眾先知到你們那裡，但你們掩耳不聽，頑固不化，比你們的祖先更邪惡。

我知道你頑梗，有鐵一般的頸項，銅一般的額頭。

「『可是，以色列人卻在曠野背叛我，不遵行我的律例和典章——遵行的人必活著，大肆褻瀆我的安息日。我本想在曠野向他們發烈怒，滅絕他們。

你要對他們說，『你們這些國民不聽你們上帝耶和華的話，不肯受管教，口中毫無真理。

為使人接受勸誡，為人處事仁義、公平、正直；

使智者聽了長學問，明哲聽了得指引；

你憎惡我的管教，把我的話拋在腦後。

耶路撒冷啊，你要接受告誡，否則我要離棄你，使你荒無人煙。」

你要對他們說，『耶和華說，你們的祖先背棄我，去跟隨、供奉、祭拜別的神明；他們背棄我，不遵守我的律法。可是，你們的行為比他們更邪惡，一意孤行，不聽從我。

光來到世上，世人因為自己的行為邪惡而不愛光，反愛黑暗，這就是他們被定罪的原因。作惡的人恨光，不肯接近光，恐怕他們的罪行暴露出來。但遵行真理的人喜歡接近光，好顯明他所做的是靠上帝做的。」

因為他們不遵守我的典章，不順從我的律例，褻瀆我的安息日，心戀偶像。

說：「我為何厭惡教誨，心裡藐視責備！

要接受我的教誨，而非白銀；要選擇知識，而非黃金。

我再三差遣我的僕人——眾先知勸你們改邪歸正，不要追隨、祭拜別的神明，以便你們可以在我賜給你們和你們祖先的土地上安居樂業，你們卻充耳不聞，毫不理會。
