This is what the Lord says: Listen to my warning! Stop carrying on your trade at Jerusalem’s gates on the Sabbath day.

耶和华如此说：你们要谨慎，不要在安息日担什么担子进入耶路撒冷的各门；

耶和华说，如果你们想保住性命，就要小心，不要在安息日带货物进耶路撒冷的城门，

耶和华这样说：为了自己的性命，你们要谨慎，不可在安息日挑担子，不可挑进耶路撒冷的城门。

耶和華如此說：你們要謹慎，不要在安息日擔甚麼擔子進入耶路撒冷的各門；

耶和華這樣說：為了自己的性命，你們要謹慎，不可在安息日挑擔子，不可挑進耶路撒冷的城門。

永恆主這麼說：為了自己性命的緣故、你們要謹慎，不可在安息之日挑甚麼擔子，或帶進耶路撒冷的各門。

耶和華曰、爾其慎旃、於安息日、毋荷擔以入耶路撒冷門、

耶和華曰、爾當謹恪、安息日勿負荷入耶路撒冷邑門。

主如是云、爾當謹恪、安息日勿負荷入耶路撒冷邑門、

This is what the Lord says: Be careful not to carry a load on the Sabbath day or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem.

The Lord says,“ Make sure you do not carry a load on the Sabbath day. Do not bring it through the gates of Jerusalem.

Thus says the Lord: Take care for the sake of your lives, and do not bear a burden on the Sabbath day or bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem.

This is what the LORD says: Watch yourselves; do not pick up a load and bring it in through Jerusalem’s gates on the Sabbath day.

This is what the Lord says:“ Take care for yourselves, and do not carry any load on the Sabbath day or bring anything in through the gates of Jerusalem.

Thus says the Lord:“ Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;

Thus saith Jehovah, Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;

This is what the Lord says: Watch yourselves; do not pick up a load and bring it in through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day.

Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring[ it] in by the gates of Jerusalem;

The LORD says,‘ Be very careful if you value your lives! Do not carry any loads in through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day.

Yahweh says,“ Be careful, and bear no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem.

One day while the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they discovered a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.The people who found him doing this took him before Moses, Aaron, and the rest of the community.They held him in custody because they did not know what to do with him.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ The man must be put to death! The whole community must stone him outside the camp.”So the whole community took the man outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

In those days I saw men of Judah treading out their winepresses on the Sabbath. They were also bringing in grain, loading it on donkeys, and bringing their wine, grapes, figs, and all sorts of produce to Jerusalem to sell on the Sabbath. So I rebuked them for selling their produce on that day.Some men from Tyre, who lived in Jerusalem, were bringing in fish and all kinds of merchandise. They were selling it on the Sabbath to the people of Judah— and in Jerusalem at that!So I confronted the nobles of Judah.“ Why are you profaning the Sabbath in this evil way?” I asked.“ Wasn’t it just this sort of thing that your ancestors did that caused our God to bring all this trouble upon us and our city? Now you are bringing even more wrath upon Israel by permitting the Sabbath to be desecrated in this way!”Then I commanded that the gates of Jerusalem should be shut as darkness fell every Friday evening, not to be opened until the Sabbath ended. I sent some of my own servants to guard the gates so that no merchandise could be brought in on the Sabbath day.The merchants and tradesmen with a variety of wares camped outside Jerusalem once or twice.But I spoke sharply to them and said,“ What are you doing out here, camping around the wall? If you do this again, I will arrest you!” And that was the last time they came on the Sabbath.

Then he added,“ Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given— and you will receive even more.

“ But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.

So be careful not to break the covenant the Lord your God has made with you. Do not make idols of any shape or form, for the Lord your God has forbidden this.

“ But be very careful! You did not see the Lord’s form on the day he spoke to you from the heart of the fire at Mount Sinai.

Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath,so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured,“ You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”But he replied,“ The man who healed me told me,‘ Pick up your mat and walk.’”“ Who said such a thing as that?” they demanded.

Do not do your work on the Sabbath, but make it a holy day. I gave this command to your ancestors,but they did not listen or obey. They stubbornly refused to pay attention or accept my discipline.“‘ But if you obey me, says the Lord, and do not carry on your trade at the gates or work on the Sabbath day, and if you keep it holy,then kings and their officials will go in and out of these gates forever. There will always be a descendant of David sitting on the throne here in Jerusalem. Kings and their officials will always ride in and out among the people of Judah in chariots and on horses, and this city will remain forever.And from all around Jerusalem, from the towns of Judah and Benjamin, from the western foothills and the hill country and the Negev, the people will come with their burnt offerings and sacrifices. They will bring their grain offerings, frankincense, and thanksgiving offerings to the Lord’s Temple.“‘ But if you do not listen to me and refuse to keep the Sabbath holy, and if on the Sabbath day you bring loads of merchandise through the gates of Jerusalem just as on other days, then I will set fire to these gates. The fire will spread to the palaces, and no one will be able to put out the roaring flames.’”

So be very careful to love the Lord your God.

“ So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.”

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal.

“ But be careful. Don’t let your heart be deceived so that you turn away from the Lord and serve and worship other gods.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?

“ So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock— his church, purchased with his own blood— over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as leaders.
