So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters. He said,“ Hurry and get out of this place, because the Lord is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.

Because of the present crisis, I think that it is good for a man to remain as he is.Are you pledged to a woman? Do not seek to be released. Are you free from such a commitment? Do not look for a wife.

For the time will come when you will say,‘ Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’

How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.
