“ Jerusalem, who will have pity on you? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are doing?

“ Who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, or who will grieve for you? Who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?

“ Who will feel sorry for you, Jerusalem? Who will weep for you? Who will even bother to ask how you are?

Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will show sympathy toward you? Who will turn aside to ask about your well-being?

“ Indeed, who will have pity on you, Jerusalem, Or who will mourn for you, Or who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?

“ For who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem? Or who will bemoan you? Or who will turn aside to ask how you are doing?

For who will have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who will bemoan thee? or who will turn aside to ask of thy welfare?

Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will show sympathy toward you? Who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?

For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?

The LORD cried out,“ Who in the world will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will grieve over you? Who will stop long enough to inquire about how you are doing?

For who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn you? Who will come to ask of your welfare?

These double calamities have come upon you— who can comfort you?— ruin and destruction, famine and sword— who can console you?

All who see you will flee from you and say,‘ Nineveh is in ruins— who will mourn for her?’ Where can I find anyone to comfort you?”

After that, declares the Lord, I will give Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the people in this city who survive the plague, sword and famine, into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who want to kill them. He will put them to the sword; he will show them no mercy or pity or compassion.’

Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none.

So they turned in there and went to the house of the young Levite at Micah’s place and greeted him.

David left his things with the keeper of supplies, ran to the battle lines and asked his brothers how they were.

For this is what the Lord says:“ Do not enter a house where there is a funeral meal; do not go to mourn or show sympathy, because I have withdrawn my blessing, my love and my pity from this people,” declares the Lord.

He has given me into the hands of those I cannot withstand.“ The Lord has rejected all the warriors in my midst; he has summoned an army against me to crush my young men. In his winepress the Lord has trampled Virgin Daughter Judah.“ This is why I weep and my eyes overflow with tears. No one is near to comfort me, no one to restore my spirit. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed.”

“ Have pity on me, my friends, have pity, for the hand of God has struck me.

They will greet you and offer you two loaves of bread, which you will accept from them.

So he sent ten young men and said to them,“ Go up to Nabal at Carmel and greet him in my name.

All who pass your way clap their hands at you; they scoff and shake their heads at Daughter Jerusalem:“ Is this the city that was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth?”All your enemies open their mouths wide against you; they scoff and gnash their teeth and say,“ We have swallowed her up. This is the day we have waited for; we have lived to see it.”

I will smash them one against the other, parents and children alike, declares the Lord. I will allow no pity or mercy or compassion to keep me from destroying them.’”

So Moses went out to meet his father-in-law and bowed down and kissed him. They greeted each other and then went into the tent.
