我之痛苦、奚久不已、我之創傷、何為不瘳、爾之於我、果如無常之溪、無水之井乎、○

予創傷未痊、殘缺未醫、曷故。爾之待我、若泉之忽竭、使人絕望、曷故。

我之痛楚、恆久不息、我之創傷甚危、不得醫痊何故、主使我失望、若人望得水、而泉源忽竭、

Why is my pain unending and my wound grievous and incurable? You are to me like a deceptive brook, like a spring that fails.

Why does my pain never end? Why is my wound so deep? Why can’t I ever get well? To me you are like a stream that runs dry. You are like a spring that doesn’t have any water.

Why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will you be to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?

Why then does my suffering continue? Why is my wound so incurable? Your help seems as uncertain as a seasonal brook, like a spring that has gone dry.”

Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!

My soul also is sore troubled: And thou, O Jehovah, how long?

My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, As the channel of brooks that pass away;Which are black by reason of the ice, And wherein the snow hideth itself:What time they wax warm, they vanish; When it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.The caravans that travel by the way of them turn aside; They go up into the waste, and perish.The caravans of Tema looked, The companies of Sheba waited for them.They were put to shame because they had hoped; They came thither, and were confounded.

I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.He hath led me and caused me to walk in darkness, and not in light.Surely against me he turneth his hand again and again all the day.My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.He hath walled me about, that I cannot go forth; he hath made my chain heavy.Yea, when I cry, and call for help, he shutteth out my prayer.He hath walled up my ways with hewn stone; he hath made my paths crooked.He is unto me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in secret places.He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate.He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.He hath caused the shafts of his quiver to enter into my reins.I am become a derision to all my people, and their song all the day.He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath sated me with wormwood.He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones; he hath covered me with ashes.And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace; I forgat prosperity.And I said, My strength is perished, and mine expectation from Jehovah.

How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou forget me for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?Consider and answer me, O Jehovah my God: Lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
