“ Speak this word to them:“‘ Let my eyes overflow with tears night and day without ceasing; for the Virgin Daughter, my people, has suffered a grievous wound, a crushing blow.

“ Jeremiah, give them this message. Tell them,“‘ Let tears flow from my eyes. Let them pour out night and day. Never let them stop. The people of my own nation have suffered a terrible wound. They have been crushed.

“ You shall say to them this word:‘ Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease, for the virgin daughter of my people is shattered with a great wound, with a very grievous blow.

Now, Jeremiah, say this to them:“ Night and day my eyes overflow with tears. I cannot stop weeping, for my virgin daughter— my precious people— has been struck down and lies mortally wounded.

You are to speak this word to them: Let my eyes overflow with tears; day and night may they not stop, for my dearest people have been destroyed by a crushing blow, an extremely severe wound.

You will say this word to them,‘ Let my eyes stream down tears night and day, And let them not cease; For the virgin daughter of my people has been crushed with a mighty blow, With a sorely infected wound.

But if you will not hear it, My soul will weep in secret for your pride; My eyes will weep bitterly And run down with tears, Because the LORD’s flock has been taken captive.

Oh, that my head were waters, And my eyes a fountain of tears, That I might weep day and night For the slain of the daughter of my people!

For the hurt of the daughter of my people I am hurt. I am mourning; Astonishment has taken hold of me.

“ The Lord has trampled underfoot all my mighty men in my midst; He has called an assembly against me To crush my young men; The Lord trampled as in a winepress The virgin daughter of Judah.“ For these things I weep; My eye, my eye overflows with water; Because the comforter, who should restore my life, Is far from me. My children are desolate Because the enemy prevailed.”

How shall I console you? To what shall I liken you, O daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I compare with you, that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For your ruin is spread wide as the sea; Who can heal you?

Their heart cried out to the Lord,“ O wall of the daughter of Zion, Let tears run down like a river day and night; Give yourself no relief; Give your eyes no rest.

“ Therefore I will also make you sick by striking you, By making you desolate because of your sins.

Rivers of water run down from my eyes, Because men do not keep Your law.

this is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning him:“ The virgin, the daughter of Zion, Has despised you, laughed you to scorn; The daughter of Jerusalem Has shaken her head behind your back!

Woe is me for my hurt! My wound is severe. But I say,“ Truly this is an infirmity, And I must bear it.”

My eyes overflow with rivers of water For the destruction of the daughter of my people.My eyes flow and do not cease, Without interruption,

I would comfort myself in sorrow; My heart is faint in me.

The virgin of Israel has fallen; She will rise no more. She lies forsaken on her land; There is no one to raise her up.

O Lord God of hosts, How long will You be angry Against the prayer of Your people?You have fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in great measure.

All your lovers have forgotten you; They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the chastisement of a cruel one, For the multitude of your iniquities, Because your sins have increased.Why do you cry about your affliction? Your sorrow is incurable. Because of the multitude of your iniquities, Because your sins have increased, I have done these things to you.

Remove Your plague from me; I am consumed by the blow of Your hand.
