「主耶和華說，『我要把戰禍、饑荒、猛獸和瘟疫這四大刑罰降在耶路撒冷，毀滅人和牲畜。

祂說，『我曾呼喚他們，他們不聽；將來他們呼求我，我也不聽。

『他們必死於惡疾，無人哀悼，無人埋葬，他們好像地上的糞便。他們必死於戰爭和饑荒，屍首必成為飛鳥和走獸的食物。』」

人若不聽從律法，他的禱告也可憎。

耶和華說：「你們獻上許多祭物，對我有什麼用呢？我厭煩公綿羊的燔祭和肥畜的脂肪，我不喜歡公牛、羊羔和公山羊的血。「你們來敬拜我的時候，誰要求你們帶著這些來踐踏我的院宇呢？不要再帶毫無意義的祭物了。我憎惡你們燒的香，厭惡你們的朔日、安息日和大會。你們又作惡又舉行莊嚴的聚會，令我無法容忍。我憎惡你們的朔日及其他節期，它們成了我的重擔，令我厭倦。你們舉手禱告，我必掩面不理。即使你們禱告再多，我也不會聽，因為你們雙手沾滿鮮血。

如果他們問你，『我們該去哪裡，』你就告訴他們，耶和華這樣說，『該死的死，該被殺的被殺，該遭饑荒的遭饑荒，該被擄的被擄。』「我要讓他們遭受四種禍患——刀殺、狗撕、鳥啄、獸吞。這是耶和華說的。

以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華說：「你們把平安祭連同燔祭都拿去吃吧！因為我把你們祖先帶出埃及的時候，並沒有吩咐他們獻燔祭或其他祭物，

耶和華憎恨惡人的祭物，悅納正直人的祈禱。

然後，我要把猶大王西底迦及其臣僕以及城中逃過瘟疫、戰爭和饑荒的人都交給巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒等仇敵，使他們落在想殺滅他們的人手中。巴比倫王必殘酷無情地殺戮他們。這是耶和華說的。』「耶利米啊，你要告訴百姓，『耶和華說，看啊，我把生命之路和死亡之路擺在你們面前，留在這城裡的必死於戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫，出城向迦勒底人投降的必保全性命、逃過一死。

萬軍之耶和華這樣說，『看啊，我必使戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫臨到他們，使他們像爛得不能吃的無花果。我要使他們飽受戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫之災，使他們的遭遇令天下萬國驚懼。在我流放他們去的地方，他們必受凌辱、嘲笑、譏諷和咒詛。

你們三分之一的人要死於饑荒瘟疫，三分之一的人要死於刀下，我必把其餘的三分之一分散到各地各方，並拔刀追殺他們。這樣，我對你們的怒氣才會發完，我才會息怒。我把烈怒傾倒在你們身上的時候，你們就會知道我耶和華的話是出於痛恨不貞。我必使你們的家園在周圍的列國中，在路人眼前成為荒涼之地，使你們飽受羞辱。當我在氣憤和烈怒中嚴厲地審判你們時，你們在各國必受羞辱和嘲諷，成為警戒，下場可怕。這是我耶和華說的。我要向你們射出饑荒的毒箭，破壞和毀滅你們，並且使饑荒越來越嚴重，斷絕你們的糧源。我必讓饑荒和猛獸來侵害你們，奪走你們的兒女，使你們飽受瘟疫、暴行和刀劍之災，這是我耶和華說的。」

惡人的祭物已經可憎，何況他懷著惡意來獻！
