“ This is what the Lord says: This shows how I will rot away the pride of Judah and Jerusalem.

“ This is what the Lord says:‘ In the same way I will ruin the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.

“ Thus says the Lord: Even so will I spoil the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.

“ Thus says the Lord:‘ In this manner I will ruin the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.

Thus saith Jehovah, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

“ This is what the Lord says: Just like this I will ruin the great pride of both Judah and Jerusalem.

Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

“ I, the LORD, say:‘ This shows how I will ruin the highly exalted position in which Judah and Jerusalem take pride.

“ Yahweh says,‘ In this way I, will ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

I will break your proud spirit by making the skies as unyielding as iron and the earth as hard as bronze.

Listen and pay attention! Do not be arrogant, for the Lord has spoken.Give glory to the Lord your God before it is too late. Acknowledge him before he brings darkness upon you, causing you to stumble and fall on the darkening mountains. For then, when you look for light, you will find only terrible darkness and gloom.And if you still refuse to listen, I will weep alone because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the Lord’s flock will be led away into exile.

Crawl into caves in the rocks. Hide in the dust from the terror of the Lord and the glory of his majesty.Human pride will be brought down, and human arrogance will be humbled. Only the Lord will be exalted on that day of judgment.For the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has a day of reckoning. He will punish the proud and mighty and bring down everything that is exalted.He will cut down the tall cedars of Lebanon and all the mighty oaks of Bashan.He will level all the high mountains and all the lofty hills.He will break down every high tower and every fortified wall.He will destroy all the great trading ships and every magnificent vessel.Human pride will be humbled, and human arrogance will be brought down. Only the Lord will be exalted on that day of judgment.

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has done it to destroy your pride and bring low all earth’s nobility.

On that day you will no longer need to be ashamed, for you will no longer be rebels against me. I will remove all proud and arrogant people from among you. There will be no more haughtiness on my holy mountain.

We have all heard of the pride of Moab, for his pride is very great. We know of his lofty pride, his arrogance, and his haughty heart.

Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.

I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Even though the destroyer has destroyed Judah, the Lord will restore its honor. Israel’s vine has been stripped of branches, but he will restore its splendor.

In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for“ God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Those who pursue us are at our heels; we are exhausted but are given no rest.We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough food to survive.Our ancestors sinned, but they have died— and we are suffering the punishment they deserved!Slaves have now become our masters; there is no one left to rescue us.
