如爾意謂、我遭斯事曷故、乃因爾之罪愆重大、爾裙被揭、爾踵受傷、

如爾間何為遭難、則爾當知、罪惡眾多、故裸爾體、跣爾足。

如爾中心曰、此諸事臨我何故、則爾當知爾罪甚多、故爾裸體跣足、

And if you ask yourself,“ Why has this happened to me?”— it is because of your many sins that your skirts have been torn off and your body mistreated.

Suppose you ask yourself,“ Why has this happened to me?” It’s because you have committed so many sins. That’s the reason your skirt has been torn off. That’s why your body has been treated so badly.

And if you say in your heart,‘ Why have these things come upon me?’ it is for the greatness of your iniquity that your skirts are lifted up and you suffer violence.

You may ask yourself,“ Why is all this happening to me?” It is because of your many sins! That is why you have been stripped and raped by invading armies.

And when you ask yourself,“ Why have these things happened to me?” it is because of your great guilt that your skirts have been stripped off, your body exposed.

And if you say in your heart,“ Why have these things come upon me?” For the greatness of your iniquity Your skirts have been uncovered, Your heels made bare.

And if thou say in thy heart, Wherefore are these things come upon me? for the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts uncovered, and thy heels suffer violence.

And when you ask yourself,“ Why have these things happened to me?” It is because of your great guilt that your skirts have been stripped off, your body exposed.

And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered,[ and] thy heels made bare.

You will probably ask yourself,‘ Why have these things happened to me? Why have I been treated like a disgraced adulteress whose skirt has been torn off and her limbs exposed?’ It is because you have sinned so much.

If you say in your heart,“ Why have these things come on me?” Your skirts are uncovered because of the greatness of your iniquity, and your heels suffer violence.

“ Behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord of armies;“ And I will lift up your skirts over your face, And show the nations your nakedness, And the kingdoms your shame.

And it shall come about when they say,‘ Why has the Lord our God done all these things to us?’ then you shall say to them,‘ Just as you have abandoned Me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’

So now I will uncover her lewdness Before the eyes of her lovers, And no one will rescue her from My hand.

“ Now it will happen that, when you tell this people all these words, they will say to you,‘ For what reason has the Lord declared all this great disaster against us? And what is our wrongdoing, or what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’Then you are to say to them,‘ It is because your forefathers have abandoned Me,’ declares the Lord,‘ and have followed other gods, and served and worshiped them; but they have abandoned Me and have not kept My Law.

The Lord will afflict the scalp of the daughters of Zion with scabs, And the Lord will make their foreheads bare.”

Jerusalem sinned greatly, Therefore she has become an object of ridicule. All who honored her despise her Because they have seen her nakedness; Even she herself groans and turns away.

“ If you say in your heart,‘ These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’

Have you not done this to yourself By your abandoning the Lord your God When He led you in the way?But now what are you doing on the road to Egypt, Except to drink the waters of the Nile? Or what are you doing on the road to Assyria, Except to drink the waters of the Euphrates River?Your own wickedness will correct you, And your apostasies will punish you; Know therefore and see that it is evil and bitter For you to abandon the Lord your God, And the fear of Me is not in you,” declares the Lord God of armies.

therefore, behold, I am going to gather all your lovers whom you pleased, all those whom you loved as well as all those whom you hated. So I will gather them against you from every direction and expose your nakedness to them so that they may see all your nakedness.So I will judge you as women who commit adultery or shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy.I will also hand you over to your lovers, and they will tear down your shrines, demolish your high places, strip you of your clothing, take away your jewels, and will leave you naked and bare.

Oh that I had in the desert A travelers’ lodging place; So that I might leave my people And go away from them! For all of them are adulterers, An assembly of treacherous people.“ They bend their tongues like their bows; Lies and not truth prevail in the land; For they proceed from evil to evil, And they do not know Me,” declares the Lord.“ Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; Because every brother utterly betrays, And every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.Everyone deceives his neighbor And does not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies; They weary themselves committing wrongdoing.Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit; Through deceit they refuse to know Me,” declares the Lord.Therefore this is what the Lord of armies says:“ Behold, I will refine them and put them to the test; For what else can I do, because of the daughter of My people?Their tongue is a deadly arrow; It speaks deceit; With his mouth one speaks peace to his neighbor, But inwardly he sets an ambush for him.Shall I not punish them for these things?” declares the Lord.“ Shall I not avenge Myself On a nation such as this?

So I Myself have stripped your skirts off over your face, So that your shame will be seen.

The scribes and the Pharisees began thinking of the implications, saying,“ Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, except God alone?”But Jesus, aware of their thoughts, responded and said to them,“ Why are you thinking this way in your hearts?

so the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, young and old, naked and barefoot with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

Otherwise, I will strip her naked And expose her as on the day she was born. I will also make her like a wilderness, Make her like desert land, And put her to death with thirst.

And it will come about at that time That I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And I will punish the people Who are stagnant in spirit, Who say in their hearts,‘ The Lord will not do good nor harm!’

And if you say in your heart,‘ How will we recognize the word which the Lord has not spoken?’

Otherwise, you may say in your heart,‘ My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’

“ Now, then, hear this, you luxuriant one, Who lives securely, Who says in her heart,‘ I am, and there is no one besides me. I will not sit as a widow, Nor know the loss of children.’

So I will remove from you your outrageous sin and your prostitution that you brought from the land of Egypt, so that you will not raise your eyes to them or remember Egypt anymore.’For this is what the Lord God says:‘ Behold, I am going to hand you over to those whom you hate, to those from whom you turned away in disgust.They will deal with you in hatred, take all your property, and leave you naked and bare. And the nakedness of your prostitution will be exposed, both your outrageous sin and your obscene practices.

Take the millstones and grind flour. Remove your veil, strip off the skirt, Uncover the leg, cross the rivers.Your nakedness will be uncovered, Your shame will also be exposed; I will take vengeance and will not spare anyone.”

And Ephraim said,“ I have certainly become rich, I have found wealth for myself; In all my labors they will find in me No wrongdoing, which would be sin.”
