昔有群民、上帝付爾、爾以自詡、而今安在、爾舉目觀瞻、見民至自北方、

爾舉目而觀、見敵來自北方、昔所付爾之群眾、即爾至美之群羊、而今安在、

Look up and see those who are coming from the north. Where is the flock that was entrusted to you, the sheep of which you boasted?

Jerusalem, look up! Your enemies are coming from the north. Where is the flock you were supposed to take care of? Where are the sheep you were so proud of?

“ Lift up your eyes and see those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?

Open up your eyes and see the armies marching down from the north! Where is your flock— your beautiful flock— that he gave you to care for?

Look up and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?

“ Raise your eyes and see Those coming from the north. Where is the flock that was given you, Your beautiful sheep?

Lift up your eyes and see Those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, Your beautiful sheep?

Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

Look up and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?

Then I said,“ Look up, Jerusalem, and see the enemy that is coming from the north. Where now is the flock of people that were entrusted to your care? Where now are the‘ sheep’ that you take such pride in?

Yahweh says,“ Behold, a people comes from the north country. A great nation will be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

For, behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, that march through the width of the earth, to possess dwelling places that are not theirs.

Therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says against the shepherds who feed my people:“ You have scattered my flock, driven them away, and have not visited them. Behold, I will visit on you the evil of your doings,” says Yahweh.

Then Yahweh said to me,“ Out of the north, evil will break out on all the inhabitants of the land.

Therefore I testify to you today that I am clean from the blood of all men,for I didn’t shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and God which he purchased with his own blood.For I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

The voice of news, behold, it comes, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling place of jackals.

But if you will not hear it, my soul will weep in secret for your pride. My eye will weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because Yahweh’s flock has been taken captive.

For, behold, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not visit those who are cut off, neither will seek those who are scattered, nor heal that which is broken, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the meat of the fat sheep, and will tear their hoofs in pieces.Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! The sword will be on his arm, and on his right eye. His arm will be completely withered, and his right eye will be totally blinded!”

All you animals of the field, come to devour, all you animals in the forest.His watchmen are blind. They are all without knowledge. They are all mute dogs. They can’t bark— dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber.Yes, the dogs are greedy. They can never have enough. They are shepherds who can’t understand. They have all turned to their own way, each one to his gain, from every quarter.“ Come,” say they,“ I will get wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow will be as today, great beyond measure.”

“‘ Therefore, you shepherds, hear Yahweh’s word:“ As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ surely because my sheep became a prey, and my sheep became food to all the animals of the field, because there was no shepherd. My shepherds didn’t search for my sheep, but the shepherds fed themselves, and didn’t feed my sheep.”Therefore, you shepherds, hear Yahweh’s word:The Lord Yahweh says:“ Behold, I am against the shepherds. I will require my sheep at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the sheep. The shepherds won’t feed themselves any more. I will deliver my sheep from their mouth, that they may not be food for them.”

He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who doesn’t own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees. The wolf snatches the sheep, and scatters them.The hired hand flees because he is a hired hand, and doesn’t care for the sheep.
