Look up and see those who are coming from the north. Where is the flock that was entrusted to you, the sheep of which you boasted?

Jerusalem, look up! Your enemies are coming from the north. Where is the flock you were supposed to take care of? Where are the sheep you were so proud of?

“ Lift up your eyes and see those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?

Open up your eyes and see the armies marching down from the north! Where is your flock— your beautiful flock— that he gave you to care for?

Look up and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?

“ Raise your eyes and see Those coming from the north. Where is the flock that was given you, Your beautiful sheep?

Lift up your eyes and see Those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, Your beautiful sheep?

Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where[ is] the flock[ that] was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

Then I said,“ Look up, Jerusalem, and see the enemy that is coming from the north. Where now is the flock of people that were entrusted to your care? Where now are the‘ sheep’ that you take such pride in?

Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, your beautiful flock?

This is what the Lord says: Look, an army is coming from a northern land; a great nation will be awakened from the remote regions of the earth.

Look! I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter, impetuous nation that marches across the earth’s open spaces to seize territories not its own.

“ Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says about the shepherds who shepherd My people: You have scattered My flock, banished them, and have not attended to them. I will attend to you because of your evil acts”— this is the Lord’s declaration.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Disaster will be poured out from the north on all who live in the land.

Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of everyone’s blood,for I did not shrink back from declaring to you the whole plan of God.Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock that the Holy Spirit has appointed you to as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.

Listen! A noise— it is coming— a great commotion from the land to the north. The cities of Judah will be made desolate, a jackals’ den.

But if you will not listen, my innermost being will weep in secret because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, for the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.

I am about to raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are going astray, and he will not seek the lost or heal the broken. He will not sustain the healthy, but he will devour the flesh of the fat sheep and tear off their hooves.Woe to the worthless shepherd who deserts the flock! May a sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm wither away and his right eye go completely blind!”

All you animals of the field and forest, come and eat!Israel’s watchmen are blind, all of them, they know nothing; all of them are mute dogs, they cannot bark; they dream, lie down, and love to sleep.These dogs have fierce appetites; they never have enough. And they are shepherds who have no discernment; all of them turn to their own way, every last one for his own gain.“ Come, let me get some wine, let’s guzzle some beer; and tomorrow will be like today, only far better!”

“ Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord.As I live”— the declaration of the Lord God—“ because My flock has become prey and food for every wild animal since they lack a shepherd, for My shepherds do not search for My flock, and because the shepherds feed themselves rather than My flock,therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord!“ This is what the Lord God says: Look, I am against the shepherds. I will demand My flock from them and prevent them from shepherding the flock. The shepherds will no longer feed themselves, for I will rescue My flock from their mouths so that they will not be food for them.

The hired man, since he is not the shepherd and doesn’t own the sheep, leaves them and runs away when he sees a wolf coming. The wolf then snatches and scatters them.This happens because he is a hired man and doesn’t care about the sheep.
