For as a belt is bound around the waist, so I bound all the people of Israel and all the people of Judah to me,’ declares the Lord,‘ to be my people for my renown and praise and honor. But they have not listened.’

A belt is tied around a person’s waist. In the same way, I tied all the people of Israel to me. I also tied all the people of Judah to me like a belt. I wanted them to be my people. They should have brought me fame and praise and honor. But they have not listened to me,” announces the Lord.

For as the loincloth clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me, declares the Lord, that they might be for me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory, but they would not listen.

As a loincloth clings to a man’s waist, so I created Judah and Israel to cling to me, says the Lord. They were to be my people, my pride, my glory— an honor to my name. But they would not listen to me.

Just as underwear clings to one’s waist, so I fastened the whole house of Israel and of Judah to me”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ so that they might be my people for my fame, praise, and glory, but they would not obey.

For as the undergarment clings to the waist of a man, so I made the entire household of Israel and the entire household of Judah cling to Me,’ declares the Lord,‘ so that they might be My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they did not listen.’

For as the sash clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me,’ says the Lord,‘ that they may become My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith Jehovah; that they may be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

For,’ I say,‘ just as shorts cling tightly to a person’s body, so I bound the whole nation of Israel and the whole nation of Judah tightly to me.’ I intended for them to be my special people and to bring me fame, honor, and praise. But they would not obey me.

For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me,’ says Yahweh;‘ that they may be to me for a people, for a name, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

如今你们若实在听从我的话，遵守我的约，就要在万民中作属我的子民，因为全地都是我的。你们要归我作祭司的国度，为圣洁的国民。’这些话你要告诉以色列人。”

这城要在地上万国人面前使我得颂赞，得荣耀，名为可喜可乐之城。万国人因听见我向这城所赐的福乐、所施的恩惠平安，就惧怕战兢。”

这百姓是我为自己所造的，好述说我的美德。”

“无奈，我的民不听我的声音；以色列全不理我。

耶和华今日照他所应许你的，也认你为他的子民，使你谨守他的一切诫命，

我设立守望的人照管你们，说：‘要听角声。’他们却说：‘我们不听。’

耶和华遇见他在旷野荒凉野兽吼叫之地，就环绕他，看顾他，保护他，如同保护眼中的瞳人。又如鹰搅动巢窝，在雏鹰以上两翅搧展，接取雏鹰，背在两翼之上。这样，耶和华独自引导他，并无外邦神与他同在。耶和华使他乘驾地的高处，得吃田间的土产；又使他从磐石中咂蜜，从坚石中吸油；也吃牛的奶油，羊的奶，羊羔的脂油，巴珊所出的公绵羊和山羊，与上好的麦子，也喝葡萄汁酿的酒。但耶书仑渐渐肥胖，粗壮，光润，踢跳，奔跑，便离弃造他的神，轻看救他的磐石；

耶和华拣选雅各归自己，拣选以色列特作自己的子民。

这恶民不肯听我的话，按自己顽梗的心而行，随从别神，侍奉敬拜，他们也必像这腰带变为无用。”

人必称他们为“圣民”，为“耶和华的赎民”；你也必称为“被眷顾、不撇弃的城”。

哪一大国的人有神与他们相近，像耶和华我们的神，在我们求告他的时候与我们相近呢？

差我来的父也为我作过见证。你们从来没有听见他的声音，也没有看见他的形像。你们并没有他的道存在心里；因为他所差来的，你们不信。你们查考圣经，因你们以为内中有永生；给我作见证的就是这经。然而，你们不肯到我这里来得生命。

你们却不听从，不侧耳而听，竟硬着颈项行恶，比你们列祖更甚。

在埃及地显神迹奇事，直到今日在以色列和别人中间也是如此，使自己得了名声，正如今日一样。

惟有你们是被拣选的族类，是有君尊的祭司，是圣洁的国度，是属神的子民，要叫你们宣扬那召你们出黑暗、入奇妙光明者的美德。

别国他都没有这样待过；至于他的典章，他们向来没有知道。你们要赞美耶和华！
