人居斯土、作惡無厭、自謂上帝不加彰癉、故邦國愁慘。土產槁枯、禽獸死亡、伊於何底。

How long will the land be thirsty for water? How long will the grass in every field be dry? The people who live in the land are evil. So the animals and birds have died. And that’s not all. The people are saying,“ The Lord won’t see what happens to us.”

How long will the land mourn and the grass of every field wither? For the evil of those who dwell in it the beasts and the birds are swept away, because they said,“ He will not see our latter end.”

How long must this land mourn? Even the grass in the fields has withered. The wild animals and birds have disappeared because of the evil in the land. For the people have said,“ The Lord doesn’t see what’s ahead for us!”

How long will the land mourn and the grass of every field wither? Because of the evil of its residents, animals and birds have been swept away, for the people have said,“ He cannot see what our end will be.”

How long is the land to mourn, And the vegetation of the countryside to dry up? Due to the wickedness of those who live in it, Animals and birds have been snatched away, Because people have said,“ He will not see our final end.”

How long will the land mourn, And the herbs of every field wither? The beasts and birds are consumed, For the wickedness of those who dwell there, Because they said,“ He will not see our final end.”

How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of the whole country wither? for the wickedness of them that dwell therein, the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our latter end.

I will weep and wail for the mountains and take up a lament concerning the wilderness grasslands. They are desolate and untraveled, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. The birds have all fled and the animals are gone.

I looked, and there were no people; every bird in the sky had flown away.

Because of this the land dries up, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea are swept away.

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

The land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land lies parched and the pastures in the wilderness are withered. The prophets follow an evil course and use their power unjustly.

and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there.

“‘ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place— on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the crops of your land— and it will burn and not be quenched.

The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?

The fields are ruined, the ground is dried up; the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the olive oil fails.Despair, you farmers, wail, you vine growers; grieve for the wheat and the barley, because the harvest of the field is destroyed.The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree— all the trees of the field— are dried up. Surely the people’s joy is withered away.Put on sackcloth, you priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God.Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.Alas for that day! For the day of the Lord is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.Has not the food been cut off before our very eyes— joy and gladness from the house of our God?The seeds are shriveled beneath the clods. The storehouses are in ruins, the granaries have been broken down, for the grain has dried up.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,

The prophets are but wind and the word is not in them; so let what they say be done to them.”

When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.

Therefore the earth will mourn and the heavens above grow dark, because I have spoken and will not relent, I have decided and will not turn back.”

“ Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says to the land of Israel:“‘ The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land!The end is now upon you, and I will unleash my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.I will not look on you with pity; I will not spare you. I will surely repay you for your conduct and for the detestable practices among you.“‘ Then you will know that I am the Lord.’“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ Disaster! Unheard- of disaster! See, it comes!The end has come! The end has come! It has roused itself against you. See, it comes!Doom has come upon you, upon you who dwell in the land. The time has come! The day is near! There is panic, not joy, on the mountains.I am about to pour out my wrath on you and spend my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.I will not look on you with pity; I will not spare you. I will repay you for your conduct and for the detestable practices among you.“‘ Then you will know that it is I the Lord who strikes you.“‘ See, the day! See, it comes! Doom has burst forth, the rod has budded, arrogance has blossomed!Violence has arisen, a rod to punish the wicked. None of the people will be left, none of that crowd— none of their wealth, nothing of value.The time has come! The day has arrived! Let not the buyer rejoice nor the seller grieve, for my wrath is on the whole crowd.The seller will not recover the property that was sold— as long as both buyer and seller live. For the vision concerning the whole crowd will not be reversed. Because of their sins, not one of them will preserve their life.
