They will sow wheat but reap thorns; they will wear themselves out but gain nothing. They will bear the shame of their harvest because of the Lord’s fierce anger.”

People will plant wheat. But all they will gather is thorns. They will wear themselves out. But they will not have anything to show for it. I am very angry with them. So they will be ashamed of the crop they gather.”

你撒種，卻不得收割；踹橄欖，卻不得油抹身；有新酒，卻不得酒喝。

你們撒的種多，收的卻少；你們吃，卻不得飽；喝，卻不得足；穿衣服，卻不得暖；領工錢的，領了工錢卻裝入有破洞的袋中。

你撒在田裏的種子雖多，收的卻少，因為蝗蟲把它吃光了。

我就要這樣對待你們：我必使驚惶臨到你們，使你們患癆病，害熱病，以致眼睛失明，身體衰弱。你們要白白撒種，因為仇敵要吃盡你們所種的。

你們為何花錢買那不是食物的東西，用勞碌得來的買那無法使人飽足的呢？你們要留意聽從我的話，就能吃那美物，得享肥甘，心中喜樂。

看哪，這不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？萬民勞碌得來的被火焚燒，萬族辛苦建造的，歸於虛空。

我觀看，看哪，肥田變為荒地；所有城鎮在耶和華面前，因他的烈怒都被拆毀。

因耶和華猛烈的怒氣，平安的羊圈都被肅清。他像獅子離開洞穴，他們的地因兇猛的怒氣和他強烈的怒氣，都變為荒涼。」

那麼，你們現在所看為羞恥的事，當時有甚麼果子呢？那些事的結局就是死。

耶和華說：「禍哉！這悖逆的兒女。他們同謀，卻不出於我，結盟，卻不出於我的靈，以致罪上加罪。他們沒有尋求我的指示，就起身下埃及去，要倚靠法老的庇護堅固自己，並投在埃及的蔭下。但法老的庇護反成為你們的羞辱；你們投在埃及蔭下，反使你們慚愧。他們的領袖已在瑣安，他們的使臣到了哈內斯。他們必因那無益於他們的民蒙羞；那民並非幫助，也非有益，只帶來羞恥和凌辱。」論尼革夫牲畜的默示。他們將財物馱在驢背上，將寶物馱在駱駝的背脊，經過艱難困苦之地，就是母獅、公獅、毒蛇、飛蛇之地，往那無益於他們的民那裏去。

那時你們怎麼了？有人來到二十斗的穀堆那裏，卻只得了十斗；有人來到酒池那裏要取五十桶，卻只得了二十桶。我以焚風、霉爛、冰雹攻擊你們，和你們手上的各樣工作，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。

從小山來的真是枉然，大山的喧嚷也是枉然。以色列得救，誠然在乎耶和華－我們的上帝。「從我們幼年以來，那可恥之物吞吃了我們祖先勞碌得來的，就是他們的羊羣、牛羣和他們的兒女。我們在羞恥中躺臥吧！願慚愧將我們遮蓋！因為從我們幼年以來，我們和我們的祖先都得罪了耶和華－我們的上帝，沒有聽從耶和華－我們上帝的話。」

禍哉！那些下埃及求幫助的，他們仰賴馬匹，倚靠甚多的戰車，並倚靠強壯的騎兵，卻不仰望以色列的聖者，也不求問耶和華。其實，耶和華有智慧，他降災禍，並不撤回自己的話，卻要興起攻擊作惡之家，攻擊那幫助人作惡的。埃及人不過是人，並非上帝，他們的馬不過是血肉，並不是靈。耶和華一伸手，那幫助人的必絆跌，受幫助的也必跌倒，都一同滅亡。
