Righteous[ art] thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of[ thy] judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper?[ wherefore] are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

我若與主爭辯、主必顯為至公、雖然、我猶敢與主理論、惡人之道途亨通、奸詐之人平康、何故哉、

You are always righteous, Lord, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?

Lord, when I bring a matter to you, you always do what is right. But now I would like to speak with you about whether you are being fair. Why are sinful people successful? Why do those who can’t be trusted have an easy life?

Righteous are you, O Lord, when I complain to you; yet I would plead my case before you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive?

Lord, you always give me justice when I bring a case before you. So let me bring you this complaint: Why are the wicked so prosperous? Why are evil people so happy?

You will be righteous, LORD, even if I bring a case against you. Yet, I wish to contend with you: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the treacherous live at ease?

Righteous are You, Lord, when I plead my case with You; Nevertheless I would discuss matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease?

Righteous are You, O Lord, when I plead with You; Yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously?

Righteous art thou, O Jehovah, when I contend with thee; yet would I reason the cause with thee: wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they at ease that deal very treacherously?

LORD, you have always been fair whenever I have complained to you. However, I would like to speak with you about the disposition of justice. Why are wicked people successful? Why do all dishonest people have such easy lives?

You are righteous, Yahweh, when I contend with you; yet I would like to reason the cause with you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are they all at ease who deal very treacherously?

And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea,[ they that] tempt God are even delivered.

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish;[ it is] that they shall be destroyed for ever:

The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth[ abundantly].

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done[ this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest,[ and] be clear when thou judgest.

I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.

But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.

The just LORD[ is] in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.

[ Thou art] of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously,[ and] holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth[ the man that is] more righteous than he?And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things,[ that have] no ruler over them?They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion[ is] fat, and their meat plenteous.Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?

O Lord, righteousness[ belongeth] unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel,[ that are] near, and[ that are] far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.

For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

As a cage is full of birds, so[ are] their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?[ How long] shall they utter[ and] speak hard things?[ and] all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

For I was envious at the foolish,[ when] I saw the prosperity of the wicked.For[ there are] no bands in their death: but their strength[ is] firm.They[ are] not in trouble[ as other] men; neither are they plagued like[ other] men.Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them[ as] a garment.Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.They are corrupt, and speak wickedly[ concerning] oppression: they speak loftily.They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full[ cup] are wrung out to them.And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?Behold, these[ are] the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase[ in] riches.Verily I have cleansed my heart[ in] vain, and washed my hands in innocency.For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend[ against] the generation of thy children.When I thought to know this, it[ was] too painful for me;Until I went into the sanctuary of God;[ then] understood I their end.Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.How are they[ brought] into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.As a dream when[ one] awaketh;[ so], O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.So foolish[ was] I, and ignorant: I was[ as] a beast before thee.Nevertheless I[ am] continually with thee: thou hast holden[ me] by my right hand.Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me[ to] glory.Whom have I in heaven[ but thee]? and[ there is] none upon earth[ that] I desire beside thee.My flesh and my heart faileth:[ but] God[ is] the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.But[ it is] good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

O LORD God of Israel, thou[ art] righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as[ it is] this day: behold, we[ are] before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.

Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.Their houses[ are] safe from fear, neither[ is] the rod of God upon them.Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.What[ is] the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

TZADDI. Righteous[ art] thou, O LORD, and upright[ are] thy judgments.

Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time[ that] thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

The LORD[ is] righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong[ reasons], saith the King of Jacob.

But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say?[ Is] God unrighteous who taketh vengeance?( I speak as a man)God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

[ He is] the Rock, his work[ is] perfect: for all his ways[ are] judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right[ is] he.

For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.

I know, O LORD, that thy judgments[ are] right, and[ that] thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
