Those are the terms that I charged your ancestors to keep when I brought them out of Egypt, that place which was like an iron-smelting furnace. I said at that time,“ Obey me and carry out the terms of the agreement exactly as I commanded you. If you do, you will be my people and I will be your God.

But the LORD selected you and brought you out of Egypt’s iron furnace to be a people for his inheritance, as you are today.

I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.

for when I brought your ancestors out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak with them or command them concerning burnt offering and sacrifice.However, I did give them this command:‘ Obey me, and then I will be your God, and you will be my people. Follow every way I command you so that it may go well with you.’

I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their faithful and righteous God.”

I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God because they will return to me with all their heart.

For they are your people and your inheritance; you brought them out of Egypt, out of the middle of an iron furnace.

You will live in the land that I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.

there will be a blessing, if you obey the commands of the LORD your God I am giving you today,

in order that the house of Israel may no longer stray from following me and no longer defile themselves with all their transgressions. Then they will be my people and I will be their God. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.’”

You will be my people, and I will be your God.

“ Look, the days are coming”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.This one will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt— my covenant that they broke even though I am their master”— the LORD’s declaration.“ Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”— the LORD’s declaration.“ I will put my teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

So now, correct your ways and deeds, and obey the LORD your God so that he might relent concerning the disaster he had pronounced against you.

Moses came and told the people all the commands of the LORD and all the ordinances. Then all the people responded with a single voice,“ We will do everything that the LORD has commanded.”And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. He rose early the next morning and set up an altar and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel at the base of the mountain.Then he sent out young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed bulls as fellowship offerings to the LORD.Moses took half the blood and set it in basins; the other half of the blood he splattered on the altar.He then took the covenant scroll and read it aloud to the people. They responded,“ We will do and obey all that the LORD has commanded.”Moses took the blood, splattered it on the people, and said,“ This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you concerning all these words.”

They will not defile themselves anymore with their idols, their abhorrent things, and all their transgressions. I will save them from all their apostasies by which they sinned, and I will cleanse them. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.

And to you and your future offspring I will give the land where you are residing— all the land of Canaan— as a permanent possession, and I will be their God.”

“ If you follow my statutes and faithfully observe my commands,

I will put this third through the fire; I will refine them as silver is refined and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say,‘ They are my people,’ and they will say,‘ The LORD is our God.’”

And what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, as God said: I will dwell and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.

But finding fault with his people, he says: See, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—not like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. I showed no concern for them, says the Lord, because they did not continue in my covenant.For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

so that they will follow my statutes, keep my ordinances, and practice them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

“ Now if you faithfully obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all his commands I am giving you today, the LORD your God will put you far above all the nations of the earth.All these blessings will come and overtake you, because you obey the LORD your God:You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.Your offspring will be blessed, and your land’s produce, and the offspring of your livestock, including the young of your herds and the newborn of your flocks.Your basket and kneading bowl will be blessed.You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.“ The LORD will cause the enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you. They will march out against you from one direction but flee from you in seven directions.The LORD will grant you a blessing on your barns and on everything you do; he will bless you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.The LORD will establish you as his holy people, as he swore to you, if you obey the commands of the LORD your God and walk in his ways.Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you bear the LORD’s name, and they will stand in awe of you.The LORD will make you prosper abundantly with offspring, the offspring of your livestock, and your land’s produce in the land the LORD swore to your ancestors to give you.The LORD will open for you his abundant storehouse, the sky, to give your land rain in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow.The LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you will only move upward and never downward if you listen to the LORD your God’s commands I am giving you today and are careful to follow them.Do not turn aside to the right or the left from all the things I am commanding you today, and do not follow other gods to worship them.

My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Therefore, this is what the LORD says: I am about to hand this city over to the Chaldeans, to Babylon’s king Nebuchadnezzar, and he will capture it.

Be attentive to him and listen to him. Do not defy him, because he will not forgive your acts of rebellion, for my name is in him.But if you will carefully obey him and do everything I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and a foe to your foes.

People who are far off will come and build the LORD’s temple, and you will know that the LORD of Armies has sent me to you. This will happen when you fully obey the LORD your God.”

On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.I also said to them,“ Throw away, each of you, the abhorrent things that you prize, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”“‘ But they rebelled against me and were unwilling to listen to me. None of them threw away the abhorrent things that they prized, and they did not abandon the idols of Egypt. So I considered pouring out my wrath on them, exhausting my anger against them within the land of Egypt.But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations they were living among, in whose sight I had made myself known to Israel by bringing them out of Egypt.“‘ So I brought them out of the land of Egypt and led them into the wilderness.Then I gave them my statutes and explained my ordinances to them— the person who does them will live by them.I also gave them my Sabbaths to serve as a sign between me and them, so that they would know that I am the LORD who consecrates them.

“ All of you are standing today before the LORD your God— your leaders, tribes, elders, officials, all the men of Israel,your dependents, your wives, and the resident aliens in your camps who cut your wood and draw your water—so that you may enter into the covenant of the LORD your God, which he is making with you today, so that you may enter into his oathand so that he may establish you today as his people and he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.I am making this covenant and this oath not only with you,but also with those who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God and with those who are not here today.

Then Samuel said: Does the LORD take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? Look: to obey is better than sacrifice, to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.

but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commands.

The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.He did not make this covenant with our ancestors, but with all of us who are alive here today.

Look, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
