“ Listen to the terms of this covenant and tell them to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem.

“ Listen to the terms of the covenant I made with my people of long ago. Tell Judah the terms still apply to them. Tell those who live in Jerusalem that they must obey them too.

耶和華對我說：「你要在猶大城鎮和耶路撒冷街市宣告這一切話，說：『當聽從遵行這約的話，

如今你們若真的聽從我的話，遵守我的約，就要在萬民中作屬我的子民，因為全地都是我的。

現在我心中有意與耶和華－以色列的神立約，好使他的烈怒轉離我們。

「耶和華－以色列的神如此說：我將你們祖先從埃及地為奴之家領出時，與他們立約說：『你的一個希伯來弟兄若賣給你，服事你六年，到第七年你們各人就要釋放他自由出去。』只是你們祖先不聽我，不側耳而聽。如今你們回轉，行我眼中看為正的事，各人向鄰舍宣告自由，並且在我面前、在稱為我名下的殿中立約。你們卻反悔，褻瀆我的名，各人叫所釋放得自由的僕人婢女回來，強迫他們仍為僕婢。

王站在自己的位上，在耶和華面前立約，要盡心盡性跟從耶和華，遵守他的誡命、法度、律例，實行這書上所記這約的話；

王和猶大眾人、耶路撒冷的居民、祭司、先知，以及所有的百姓，無論大小，都一同上到耶和華的殿去；王把耶和華殿裏所發現的約書上一切的話讀給他們聽。王站在柱子旁邊，在耶和華面前立約，要盡心盡性跟從耶和華，遵守他的誡命、法度、律例，實行這書上所寫這約的話。全體百姓都願遵守所立的約。

耶何耶大與眾百姓，又與王立約，要作耶和華的子民。

耶何耶大使王和百姓與耶和華立約，作耶和華的子民，又使王與百姓立約。
