“ Listen to the terms of this covenant and tell them to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem.

“ Listen to the terms of the covenant I made with my people of long ago. Tell Judah the terms still apply to them. Tell those who live in Jerusalem that they must obey them too.

“ Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

“ Remind the people of Judah and Jerusalem about the terms of my covenant with them.

“ Listen to the words of this covenant and tell them to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.

“ Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

And the Lord said to me,“ Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying,‘ Hear the words of this covenant and do them.

Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;

Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, so that His burning anger may turn away from us.

“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:‘ I made a covenant with your forefathers on the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, saying,“ At the end of seven years each of you shall set free his Hebrew brother who has been sold to you and has served you for six years, and you shall send him out free from you.” But your forefathers did not obey Me nor incline their ear to Me.Although recently you had turned and done what is right in My sight, each one proclaiming release to his neighbor, and you had made a covenant before Me in the house which is called by My name.Yet you turned and profaned My name, and each person took back his male servant and each his female servant whom you had set free according to their desire, and you brought them into subjection to be your male and female servants.’

Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord to walk after the Lord, and to keep His commandments, His testimonies, and His statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that are written in this book.

And the king went up to the house of the Lord and every man of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, the prophets, and all the people, from the small to the great; and he read in their presence all the words of the Book of the Covenant which was found in the house of the Lord.And the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep His commandments, His provisions, and His statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to carry out the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people entered into the covenant.

Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king, that they would be the Lord’s people.
