他們將神像抬起，扛在肩頭上，安置在定處，它就站在那裏，總不離開其位置；就使有人向它哀叫，它也不能應，不能救人脫離患難。

你們知道、你們還未信教的時候、怎樣被帶走，隨事受牽引、去拜不能出聲的偶像。

他們有口、卻不能說話；有眼、卻不能看；有耳、卻不能聽；有鼻、卻不能聞；有手、卻不能摸；有腳、卻不能走路；也不能用喉嚨出聲。造它們的、正和它們一樣；凡倚靠它們的、正如它們一般。

把此後要來的事說明說明！好叫我們知道你們是神；啊，降福或降禍吧，使我們彷徨張望，同時又懼怕呀！看哪，你們簡直是無有，你們的作為乃是虛無；那選擇你們的是「可厭惡」。

那對木偶說「醒起！」、對啞巴石像說「奮起！」的有禍啊！嘿，這能做導師！看哪，這只是包裹金銀的，其中毫無氣息！

彼勒屈身仆倒，尼波彎腰跌落；巴比倫人的偶像馱在獸和牲口上，他們抬的偶像如今成了重載、馱在疲乏的牲口上。

因了得權柄而在獸面前能行神迹、牠就迷惑住在地上的人，告訴住在地上的人要為那受刀擊傷還活着的獸造像。牠得了權柄、可以將生氣給獸的像，叫獸的像不但能說話，也能叫所有不拜獸像的人都被殺害。

所以論到喫祭偶像之物這一件事、我們知道偶像在世上算不了甚麼，也知道除了一位上帝以外、沒有別的上帝。

它們有口卻不能說話；有眼卻不能看；有耳卻不能側耳以聽；它們口中也沒有氣息。造它們的、正和它們一樣；凡倚靠它們的、正如它們一般。

『列國逃脫的人哪，集合攏來，一同走近前哦！那些抬着木頭雕像的、直禱告那不能救人之神的、毫無知識。

製造雕像的盡都虛空；他們所喜愛的都沒有用處；他們的見證人毫無所見，毫無所知，以致自己失望。誰製造神像，鑄造無用的雕像呢？
