你們知道，你們還是教外人的時候，總是受迷惑被引誘，去拜那不能說話的偶像。

它們有口，卻不能說話；有眼，卻不能看；有耳，卻不能聽；有鼻，卻不能聞；有手，卻不能摸；有腳，卻不能行；也不能用喉嚨發聲。做偶像的必和偶像一樣；凡是倚靠它們的，都必這樣。

把以後要來的事告訴我們，好叫我們知道你們是神；你們作這些事，或降福或降禍，以致我們彼此對望，一齊觀看。看哪！你們屬於無有，你們的作為都屬於虛空，那選擇你們的是可厭惡的。

你這對木頭說“起來”，對啞石說“醒吧”的人，有禍了！它怎能教導你呢？看哪！它包金鑲銀，裡面卻全無氣息。

彼勒俯伏，尼波彎腰；巴比倫人的偶像馱在走獸和牲口上。你們所抬的現在都成了重擔，成了疲乏的牲畜身上的重負。

牠得了能力，在頭一隻獸面前能行奇事，迷惑了住在地上的人，吩咐住在地上的人，要為那受過刀傷而還活著的獸做個像。又有能力賜給牠，可以把氣息給獸像，使獸像能夠說話，並且能夠殺害那些不拜獸像的人。

關於吃祭過偶像的食物，我們知道世上的偶像算不得甚麼，也知道神只有一位，沒有別的神。

有口卻不能說話，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，口中也沒有氣息。做偶像的必和它們一樣，所有倚靠它們的也必這樣。

“列國逃脫的人哪！你們要來集合，一同近前來。那些抬著木頭做的偶像，向不能拯救人的神祈求的，真是無知。

製造偶像的人，盡都是虛空的，他們所喜愛的，都沒有益處。他們的見證人，一無所見，一無所知，以致他們蒙羞。誰製造神像，或鑄造偶像，不想得到益處呢？
