But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.

起初，神创造天地。

他独自铺开苍天，步行在海浪之上；

神坐在大地的圆穹之上，地上的居民好像蚱蜢，他铺张诸天如铺张幔子，展开众天像展开可以居住的帐棚。

因为创造诸天的耶和华，他是神，塑造大地，把大地造成；他坚立大地；他创造大地，不是荒凉的；他塑造大地，是要给人居住；他这样说：“我是耶和华，再没有别的神。

他建造了自己的圣所好像在高天之上，又像他所建立永存的大地。

耶和华以智慧奠定大地，以聪明坚立高天。

我奠定大地根基的时候，你在哪里呢？你若有聪明，就只管说吧。你一定晓得是谁定大地的尺度，是谁把准绳拉在大地之上？地的基础奠在哪里，地的角石是谁安放的？那时晨星一起歌唱，神的众子也都欢呼。

天上的天啊！你们要赞美他。天上的水啊！你们要赞美他。愿这一切都赞美耶和华的名，因为他一发令，它们就都造成。

你披上亮光好像披上外袍；展开诸天好像铺张帐幔。

以下是耶和华的默示，这是耶和华论到以色列的话（是耶和华的宣告，他铺张诸天，奠定大地的根基，造成人里面的灵）：

万有是藉着他造的；凡被造的，没有一样不是藉着他造的。

要称谢那用智慧造成诸天的，因为他的慈爱永远长存。要称谢那铺张大地在水上的，因为他的慈爱永远长存。

因为他把地奠定在海上，使世界安定在众水之上。

诸天藉着耶和华的话而造，天上的万象藉着他口中的气而成。

耶和华啊！你所造的真是众多。它们都是你用智慧造成的；全地充满你所造的东西。

神说：“众水之间要有穹苍，把水和水分开！”事就这样成了。神造了穹苍，把穹苍以下的水和穹苍以上的水分开了。神称穹苍为天。有晚上，有早晨；这是第二日。神说：“天下的水要聚在一处，使旱地露出来！”事就这样成了。

以雅各的神为自己的帮助，仰望耶和华他的神的，这人就是有福的。耶和华造天、地、海，和其中的万物；他持守信实，直到永远。

那创造诸天，展开穹苍，铺张大地和大地所出的一切，赐气息给地上的众人，又赐灵性给在地上行的人的耶和华神这样说：

因为天上地上的万有：看得见的和看不见的，无论是坐王位的，或是作主的，或是执政的，或是掌权的，都是本着他造的；万有都是藉着他，又是为着他而造的。

他一发声，空中众水就澎湃；他使云雾从地极上腾；他造了闪电和雷雨，又使风从他的仓库里吹出来。

你的信实存到万代；你坚立了地，地就长存。

他把北极铺在空间，把地球挂在太空。

谁升上天，又降下来呢？谁收聚风在掌中呢？谁包水在衣服里呢？谁立定地的四极呢？他的名字叫什么？他儿子的名字叫什么？你知道吗？

我造了地，又造了人在地上；我亲手展开了诸天，又命定了天上的万象。

耶和华这样说：“在悦纳的时候，我应允了你，在拯救的日子，我帮助了你；我要保护你，使你作人民的中保，复兴那地，使人承受荒凉之地作产业，

你的救赎主，就是那在母胎中就造了你的耶和华这样说：“我耶和华是创造万物的，我是独自展开诸天，铺张大地的。
