“ You are my Lord and King,” I said.“ I don’t know how to speak. I’m too young.”

我就说：“主耶和华啊，我不知怎样说，因为我是年幼的。”

我就说：“唉！主耶和华，看哪，我不知道怎么说，因为我年轻。”

我就说：“唉！主耶和华，看哪，我不知道怎么说，因为我年轻。”

我回答说：“主耶和华啊，我太年轻，不懂得怎样说话。”

我就说：“主耶和华啊！我不晓得说话，因为我年轻。”

我就說：主耶和華啊，我不知怎樣說，因為我是年幼的。

我就說：「唉！主耶和華，看哪，我不知道怎麼說，因為我年輕。」

我就說：「唉！主耶和華，看哪，我不知道怎麼說，因為我年輕。」

我回答說：「主耶和華啊，我太年輕，不懂得怎樣說話。」

我就說：“主耶和華啊！我不曉得說話，因為我年輕。”

我就說：『啊，主永恆主啊，你看；我不曉得說話，因為我年輕。』

我曰、噫、主耶和華歟、我乃小子、不知所言、

我曰、主耶和華與、渺余小子、不能知所當言。

我曰、主天主歟、我年幼小、不知所當言、

“ Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said,“ I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

Then I said,“ Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”

“ O Sovereign Lord,” I said,“ I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”

But I protested,“ Oh no, Lord GOD! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am only a youth.”

Then I said,“ Oh, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, Because I am a youth.”

Then said I:“ Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”

Then said I, Ah, Lord Jehovah! behold, I know not how to speak; for I am a child.

But I protested,“ Oh no, Lord, God! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am only a youth.”

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I[ am] a child.

I answered,“ Oh, Lord GOD, I really do not know how to speak well enough for that, for I am too young.”

Then I said,“ Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, I don’t know how to speak; for I am a child.”

But Moses said to the Lord,“ The people won’t listen to me. So why would Pharaoh listen to me? After all, I don’t speak very well.”

Moses spoke to the Lord. He said,“ Lord, I’ve never been a good speaker. And I haven’t gotten any better since you spoke to me. I don’t speak very well at all.”The Lord said to him,“ Who makes human beings able to talk? Who makes them unable to hear or speak? Who makes them able to see? Who makes them blind? It is I, the Lord.Now go. I will help you speak. I will teach you what to say.”But Moses said,“ Lord, please send someone else to do it.”Then the Lord became very angry with Moses. He said,“ What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you. He will be glad to see you.Speak to him. Tell him what to say. I will help both of you speak. I will teach you what to do.He will speak to the people for you. He will be like your mouth. And you will be like God to him.

“ Lord my God, you have now made me king. You have put me in the place of my father David. But I’m only a little child. I don’t know how to carry out my duties.I’m here among the people you have chosen. They are a great nation. They are more than anyone can count.So give me a heart that understands. Then I can rule over your people. I can tell the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Who can possibly rule over this great nation of yours?”

“ ‘ Lord and King, you have reached out your great and powerful arm. You have made the heavens and the earth. Nothing is too hard for you.

But Moses said to the Lord,“ I don’t speak very well. So why would Pharaoh listen to me?”

Then I said,“ You are my Lord and King. You have completely tricked the people of Judah and Jerusalem! You have told them,‘ You will have peace and rest.’ But swords are pointed at our throats!”

“ How terrible it is for me!” I cried out.“ I’m about to be destroyed! My mouth speaks sinful words. And I live among people who speak sinful words. Now I have seen the King with my own eyes. He is the Lord who rules over all.”

But I said,“ Lord and King, the prophets keep telling them something else. They say,‘ You won’t have to suffer from war or hunger. Instead, the Lord will give you peace and rest in this place.’ ”

Moses answered,“ What if the elders of Israel won’t believe me? What if they won’t listen to me? Suppose they say,‘ The Lord didn’t appear to you.’ Then what should I do?”
