亞哈謝的母親亞她利雅見兒子死了，便決定除掉王室後裔。但約蘭王的女兒、亞哈謝的妹妹約示芭把亞哈謝的兒子約阿施從被殺的王子中偷出來，將他和乳母藏在一間臥室裡，才躲過亞她利雅，使約阿施沒有被殺。

基甸在那裡為耶和華築了一座壇，稱之為「耶和華賜平安」。這壇如今仍在亞比以謝族的俄弗拉。

他有許多妻子，生了七十個兒子。

「起來，帶著孩子和祂母親回以色列去吧！因為要殺害孩子的人已經死了。」

到了撒瑪利亞，他把亞哈家在撒瑪利亞剩下的人全部殺光，一個不留，應驗了耶和華對以利亞說的話。
