荆棘对众树说：‘如果你们真诚地膏立我作王统治你们，就要来，投靠在我的荫下；否则，火必从荆棘里出来，吞灭黎巴嫩的香柏树。’

这样，神报应了亚比米勒向他父亲所行的恶事，就是他杀了自己的兄弟七十个人。神也把示剑人的一切恶事，都报应在他们的头上；耶路．巴力的儿子约坦的咒诅，也归到他们身上。

诡诈的舌头啊！他要给你什么呢？他要加给你什么呢？就是勇士的利箭，和罗腾木烧的炭火。

三百人吹那三百枝角的时候，耶和华使全营的人用刀互相击杀，然后他们向着西利拉逃到伯．哈示他，直到靠近他巴的亚伯．米何拉河边。

你出现的时候，就要使他们像炽热的火炉；耶和华必在他的震怒中吞灭他们，火必烧灭他们。你必从地上除灭他们的子孙，从人间除灭他们的后裔。

神差派邪恶的灵来到亚比米勒与示剑人中间，示剑人就背弃了亚比米勒。

愿炭火落在他们身上；愿他们掉在深坑里，不能再起来。

当他们开始欢呼赞美的时候，耶和华就派出伏兵，击杀那前来攻打犹大人的亚扪人、摩押人和西珥山的人，他们就被击溃了。原来亚扪人和摩押人起来攻击住西珥山的人，把他们杀尽灭绝；他们灭尽了住西珥山的人以后，竟又自相残杀。

勇士啊！你为什么以作恶自夸呢？神的慈爱是常存的。你图谋毁灭，你的舌头锋利像剃刀，常弄诡诈。你喜爱作恶过于行善，喜爱撒谎过于说实话。（细拉）你喜爱你诡诈的舌头，所说一切毁灭人的话。神必把你永远拆毁；他必把你挪去，把你从帐棚中揪出来，把你从活人之地连根拔起。（细拉）

愿你按着他们所作的，照着他们所行的恶报应他们；愿你照着他们手所作的报应他们，把他们应得的报应加给他们。
