所以我們也如此。我們既有這樣多如密雲的捨生作證人圍繞着我們，就該脫去各樣的拖累、和那容易纏着我們的罪，用堅忍志氣跑那擺在我們前頭的賽程，轉臉注視着信仰上的開創者和完成者耶穌：他為了那擺在他前頭的喜樂，就堅忍着十字架，輕看羞辱，如今已在上帝的右邊坐着呢。他堅忍着罪人這樣地頂撞他，你們要跟他比比，免得你們心灰意冷。你們跟罪對鬥、還沒有抵抗到流血呢。

人民中有一個人應時地說：『你父親曾向人民鄭重地起誓說：「今天喫甚麼食物的人必受咒詛」；因此人民都疲乏了。』約拿單說：『我父親把這地方搞壞了；你看，我嘗了這一點蜜，我眼睛就明亮了。

大衛和四百人往前追趕；有二百人因為精疲力竭、不能過比梭谿谷，便停住了。
