柔和的回答使烈怒消退，暴戾的话激动怒气。

基甸派遣了使者走遍以法莲山地，说：“你们要下来迎战米甸人，在他们前面把守约旦河的渡口，直到伯．巴拉。”于是以法莲的人都被召来，把守约旦河的渡口，直到伯．巴拉。他们捉住了米甸人的两个首领：俄立和西伊伯；把俄立杀在俄立磐石上，把西伊伯杀在西伊伯榨酒池那里；然后追赶米甸人，又把俄立和西伊伯的人头带到约旦河对岸，基甸那里。

我凭着所赐给我的恩典，对你们各人说，不可自视太高，高于所当看的，反而应该照着神分给各人信心的大小，看得适中。

因为他们取得那地，不是靠自己的刀剑；他们得胜，也不是靠自己的膀臂；而是靠你的右手、你的膀臂和你脸上的光，因为你喜悦他们。

一句话说得合宜，就像金苹果镶在银的器物上。

不轻易动怒的，胜过勇士；克服己心的，胜过把城攻取的人。

耶和华啊！不要把荣耀归给我们，不要归给我们；要因你的慈爱和信实把荣耀归在你的名下。

照着所赐给我们的恩典，我们各有不同的恩赐：说预言的，就应当照着信心的程度去说；

别的我不敢说，我只说基督藉着我所作的事，就是用言语行为，藉着神迹和奇事的大能，以及圣灵的大能，使外族人顺服；这样，我从耶路撒冷直到以利里古，把基督的福音都传开了。

恒久忍耐可以劝服掌权的人，柔和的舌头，可以折断骨头。

不要自私自利，也不要贪图虚荣，只要谦卑，看别人比自己强；

‘这人撒种，那人收割’，这话是真的。
