Then the Israelites said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, you as well as your sons and your grandsons, for you delivered us from the power of Midian.”

The Israelites said to Gideon,“ Rule over us— you, your son and your grandson— because you have saved us from the hand of Midian.”

The Israelites said to Gideon,“ Rule over us. We want you, your son and your grandson to be our rulers. You have saved us from the power of Midian.”

Then the men of Israel said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, you and your son and your grandson also, for you have saved us from the hand of Midian.”

Then the Israelites said to Gideon,“ Be our ruler! You and your son and your grandson will be our rulers, for you have rescued us from Midian.”

Then the men of Israel said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, both you and your son, your son’s son as well, for you have saved us from the hand of Midian!”

Then the men of Israel said to Gideon,“ Rule over us, both you and your son, and your grandson also; for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.”

Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also; for thou hast saved us out of the hand of Midian.

The trees decided to anoint a king over themselves. They said to the olive tree,“ Reign over us.”But the olive tree said to them,“ Should I stop giving my oil that people use to honor both God and men, and rule over the trees?”Then the trees said to the fig tree,“ Come and reign over us.”But the fig tree said to them,“ Should I stop giving my sweetness and my good fruit, and rule over trees?”Later, the trees said to the grapevine,“ Come and reign over us.”But the grapevine said to them,“ Should I stop giving my wine that cheers both God and man, and rule over trees?”Finally, all the trees said to the bramble,“ Come and reign over us.”The bramble said to the trees,“ If you really are anointing me as king over you, come and find refuge in my shade. But if not, may fire come out from the bramble and consume the cedars of Lebanon.”

They said to him,“ Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Therefore, appoint a king to judge us the same as all the other nations have.”

But when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites was coming against you, you said to me,‘ No, we must have a king reign over us’— even though the LORD your God is your king.

Therefore, when Jesus realized that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, he withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
