Then Gideon said to God,“ If you will deliver Israel by me, as you said,

基甸對上帝說：「若如你所言，你要用我去拯救以色列人，

基甸對神說：“如果你按著你所說的，要藉著我的手拯救以色列人；

基甸對上帝說：『你如果照你所說的要藉着我的手來拯救以色列，

基甸謂上帝曰、如爾果循所言、假我手而拯以色列人、

其田求上帝曰、爾嘗有言、必假手於我、援以色列族。

基甸禱天主曰、主若果藉我手拯以色列人、循主所許、

Gideon said to God,“ If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised—

Gideon said to God,“ You promised you would use me to save Israel.

Then Gideon said to God,“ If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said,

Then Gideon said to God,“ If you are truly going to use me to rescue Israel as you promised,

Then Gideon said to God,“ If You are going to save Israel through me, as You have spoken,

So Gideon said to God,“ If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said—

And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast spoken,

Then Gideon said to God,“ If You will deliver Israel by my hand, as You said,

And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,

Gideon said to God,“ If you really intend to use me to deliver Israel, as you promised, then give me a sign as proof.

Gideon said to God,“ If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken,

The LORD turned to him and said,“ Go in the strength you have and deliver Israel from the grasp of Midian. I am sending you!”

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.For he knows what we are made of, remembering that we are dust.

Moses answered,“ What if they won’t believe me and will not obey me but say,‘ The LORD did not appear to you’?”The LORD asked him,“ What is that in your hand?”“ A staff,” he replied.“ Throw it on the ground,” he said. So Moses threw it on the ground, it became a snake, and he ran from it.The LORD told Moses,“ Stretch out your hand and grab it by the tail.” So he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand.“ This will take place,” he continued,“ so that they will believe that the LORD, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”In addition the LORD said to him,“ Put your hand inside your cloak.” So he put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, his hand was diseased, resembling snow.“ Put your hand back inside your cloak,” he said. So he put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, it had again become like the rest of his skin.“ If they will not believe you and will not respond to the evidence of the first sign, they may believe the evidence of the second sign.And if they don’t believe even these two signs or listen to what you say, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”

Isaiah said,“ This is the sign to you from the LORD that he will do what he has promised: Should the shadow go ahead ten steps or go back ten steps?”

The Pharisees and Sadducees approached, and tested him, asking him to show them a sign from heaven.

Then he said to him,“ If I have found favor with you, give me a sign that you are speaking with me.Please do not leave this place until I return to you. Let me bring my gift and set it before you.” And he said,“ I will stay until you return.”So Gideon went and prepared a young goat and unleavened bread from a half bushel of flour. He placed the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot. He brought them out and offered them to him under the oak.The angel of God said to him,“ Take the meat with the unleavened bread, put it on this stone, and pour the broth on it.” So he did that.
