Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, summoning the Abiezrites to follow him.

耶和華的靈降在俄陀聶身上，他就做了以色列的士師，領兵出戰。耶和華將美索不達米亞王古珊·利薩田交在他手中，他便戰勝了古珊·利薩田。

到了那裡，他就在以法蓮的山區吹響號角，召集以色列人。眾人跟隨以笏下山，

上帝的靈感動了耶何耶大祭司的兒子撒迦利亞，他便站在高處對民眾說：「耶和華上帝這樣說，『你們為什麼違反耶和華的誡命，以致不得亨通呢？既然你們背棄我，我也必離棄你們。』」

當時，上帝的靈感動那三十位勇士的首領亞瑪撒，他就說：「大衛啊，我們是你的人！耶西的兒子啊，我們擁護你！願你無比昌盛！願幫助你的人也都昌盛！因為你的上帝幫助你。」大衛便收留他們，派他們統領他的隊伍。

你們要活出主耶穌基督的榮美，不要只顧放縱罪惡本性的私慾。

這人從聖靈領受智言，那人從聖靈領受知識；聖靈賜這人信心，賜那人醫病的恩賜；聖靈使這人能行神蹟，使那人能作先知講道；使這人能辨別諸靈，使那人能說方言，又使另一人能翻譯方言。這一切都是同一位聖靈所賜的，是祂按自己的旨意分別賜給各人的。

非利士人看見參孫來到利希，就呐喊著迎了上去。耶和華的靈降在參孫身上，綁在他手臂上的繩子就像被火燒的麻線一樣脫落下來。

當他在瑣拉和以實陶之間的瑪哈尼·但的時候，耶和華的靈開始感動他。

掃羅聽後，上帝的靈降在他身上，他勃然大怒，

基甸說：「我怎能比得上你們呢？以法蓮人摘剩的葡萄豈不比我們亞比以謝族收穫的葡萄更好嗎？

耶和華的靈降在參孫身上，他便去亞實基倫殺了三十個人，擄走他們的衣服，交給猜中謎語的那些人，然後怒氣沖沖地回父親家去了。

耶和華的靈會降在你身上，你就會跟他們一起說預言，那時，你會變成另一個人。

耶和華的靈離開了掃羅，有個邪靈從耶和華那裡來折磨他。

瑪拿西其他的子孫也按宗族分到了土地，他們屬於亞比以謝、希勒、亞斯列、示劍、希弗和示米大宗族。這些男子按宗族都是約瑟的兒子瑪拿西的後代。

一天，耶和華的天使來到俄弗拉，坐在亞比以謝族人約阿施的橡樹下。約阿施的兒子基甸因為要躲避米甸人，正躲在榨酒池裡打麥子。
