So because Gideon broke down Baal’s altar, they gave him the name Jerub- Baal that day, saying,“ Let Baal contend with him.”

That day Gideon was called Jerubbaal, since Joash said,“ Let Baal contend with him,” because he tore down his altar.

耶和华就差遣耶路巴力、比但、耶弗他、撒母耳救你们脱离四围仇敌的手，你们才安然居住。

耶路巴力就是基甸，他和一切跟随的人早晨起来，在哈律泉旁安营。米甸营在他们北边的平原，靠近摩利冈。

从前打死耶路比设儿子亚比米勒的是谁呢？岂不是一个妇人从城上抛下一块上磨石来，打在他身上，他就死在提备斯吗？你们为什么挨近城墙呢？’你就说：‘王的仆人赫人乌利亚也死了。’”

主说：“我遇见以色列如葡萄在旷野；我看见你们的列祖如无花果树上春季初熟的果子。他们却来到巴力毗珥专拜那可羞耻的，就成为可憎恶的，与他们所爱的一样。

犹大啊，你神的数目与你城的数目相等；你为那可耻的巴力所筑烧香的坛也与耶路撒冷街道的数目相等。
