Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country.

Each year the people planted their crops. When they did, the Midianites came into the country and attacked it. So did the Amalekites and other tribes from the east.

For whenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites and the Amalekites and the people of the East would come up against them.

Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, marauders from Midian, Amalek, and the people of the east would attack Israel,

我就要這樣對待你們：我必使驚惶臨到你們，使你們患癆病，害熱病，以致眼睛失明，身體衰弱。你們要白白撒種，因為仇敵要吃盡你們所種的。

你聘了妻子，別人必與她同寢；你建了房屋，卻不得住在其內；你栽植了葡萄園，卻不得享用所結的果子。你的牛在你眼前宰了，你吃不到牠的肉；你的驢在你眼前被人搶奪，卻討不回來；你的羊被敵人拿走，無人幫助你。你的兒女被交給別國的民；你的眼目終日切望，甚至失明，你的手卻無能為力。你地所產的和你勞力所得的，必被你所不認識的百姓吃盡。你天天只被欺負，受壓制，

他們必吃你牲畜所生的和你土地所產的，直到你被除滅。你的五穀、新酒和新的油，以及牛犢、羔羊，他都不給你留下，直到使你滅亡。

他們建造房屋，居住其中，栽葡萄園，吃園中的果子；並非造了給別人居住，也非栽種給別人享用；因為我百姓的日子必長久如樹木，我的選民必享受親手勞碌得來的。
