Then he said to Him,“ If I have found favor in Your sight, give me a sign that You are speaking with me.

基甸對他說：『我若在你面前蒙恩，求你為我顯個神迹，證實是你同我說話。

曰、我若蒙恩於爾前、求示我以徵、俾知與我言者為爾也、

曰如我蒙恩於爾前、請示以徵、則知爾誠諭我者也。

曰、如我蒙恩於主前、求主示我以證、使我知與我言者誠主也、或作使我知主真與我言

Gideon replied,“ If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me.

Gideon replied,“ If you are pleased with me, give me a special sign. Then I’ll know that it’s really you talking to me.

And he said to him,“ If now I have found favor in your eyes, then show me a sign that it is you who speak with me.

Gideon replied,“ If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the Lord speaking to me.

Then he said to him,“ If I have found favor with you, give me a sign that you are speaking with me.

So Gideon said to Him,“ If now I have found favor in Your sight, then perform for me a sign that it is You speaking with me.

Then he said to Him,“ If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me.

And he said unto him, If now I have found favor in thy sight, then show me a sign that it is thou that talkest with me.

And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.

Gideon said to him,“ If you really are pleased with me, then give me a sign as proof that it is really you speaking with me.

He said to him,“ If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.

Show me a sign of Your goodness; my enemies will see and be put to shame because You, Lord, have helped and comforted me.

Now if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, please teach me Your ways, and I will know You and find favor in Your sight. Now consider that this nation is Your people.”

“ Ask for a sign from the Lord your God— from the depths of Sheol to the heights of heaven.”

How will it be known that I and Your people have found favor in Your sight unless You go with us? I and Your people will be distinguished by this from all the other people on the face of the earth.”

Then Gideon said to God,“ If You will deliver Israel by my hand, as You said,I will put a fleece of wool here on the threshing floor. If dew is only on the fleece, and all the ground is dry, I will know that You will deliver Israel by my strength, as You said.”And that is what happened. When he got up early in the morning, he squeezed the fleece and wrung dew out of it, filling a bowl with water.Gideon then said to God,“ Don’t be angry with me; let me speak one more time. Please allow me to make one more test with the fleece. Let it remain dry, and the dew be all over the ground.”That night God did as Gideon requested: only the fleece was dry, and dew was all over the ground.

But he said,“ Lord God, how can I know that I will possess it?”He said to him,“ Bring Me a three-year-old cow, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”So he brought all these to Him, split them down the middle, and laid the pieces opposite each other, but he did not cut up the birds.Birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.As the sun was setting, a deep sleep fell on Abram, and suddenly great terror and darkness descended on him.Then the Lord said to Abram,“ Know this for certain: Your offspring will be foreigners in a land that does not belong to them; they will be enslaved and oppressed 400 years.However, I will judge the nation they serve, and afterward they will go out with many possessions.But you will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a ripe old age.In the fourth generation they will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure.”When the sun had set and it was dark, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch appeared and passed between the divided animals.

Hezekiah had asked Isaiah,“ What is the sign that the Lord will heal me and that I will go up to the Lord’s temple on the third day?”Isaiah said,“ This is the sign to you from the Lord that He will do what He has promised: Should the shadow go ahead 10 steps or go back 10 steps?”Then Hezekiah answered,“ It’s easy for the shadow to lengthen 10 steps. No, let the shadow go back 10 steps.”So Isaiah the prophet called out to the Lord, and He brought the shadow back the 10 steps it had descended on Ahaz’s stairway.

Then Moses answered,“ What if they won’t believe me and will not obey me but say,‘ The Lord did not appear to you’?”The Lord asked him,“ What is that in your hand?”“ A staff,” he replied.Then He said,“ Throw it on the ground.” He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake. Moses ran from it,but the Lord told him,“ Stretch out your hand and grab it by the tail.” So he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand.“ This will take place,” He continued,“ so they will believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”In addition the Lord said to him,“ Put your hand inside your cloak.” So he put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, his hand was diseased, white as snow.Then He said,“ Put your hand back inside your cloak.” He put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, it had again become like the rest of his skin.“ If they will not believe you and will not respond to the evidence of the first sign, they may believe the evidence of the second sign.And if they don’t believe even these two signs or listen to what you say, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”

This is the sign to you from the Lord that He will do what He has promised:I am going to make the sun’s shadow that goes down on Ahaz’s stairway go back by 10 steps.” So the sun’s shadow went back the 10 steps it had descended.
