曰、我若蒙恩於爾前、求示我以徵、俾知與我言者為爾也、

曰如我蒙恩於爾前、請示以徵、則知爾誠諭我者也。

曰、如我蒙恩於主前、求主示我以證、使我知與我言者誠主也、或作使我知主真與我言

Gideon replied,“ If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me.

Gideon replied,“ If you are pleased with me, give me a special sign. Then I’ll know that it’s really you talking to me.

Gideon replied,“ If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the Lord speaking to me.

Then he said to him,“ If I have found favor with you, give me a sign that you are speaking with me.

So Gideon said to Him,“ If now I have found favor in Your sight, then perform for me a sign that it is You speaking with me.

Then he said to Him,“ If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me.

And he said unto him, If now I have found favor in thy sight, then show me a sign that it is thou that talkest with me.

Then he said to Him,“ If I have found favor in Your sight, give me a sign that You are speaking with me.

And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.

Gideon said to him,“ If you really are pleased with me, then give me a sign as proof that it is really you speaking with me.

He said to him,“ If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.

Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.”

“ Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.”

For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?”

Then Gideon said to God,“ If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said,behold, I am laying a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece alone, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said.”And it was so. When he rose early next morning and squeezed the fleece, he wrung enough dew from the fleece to fill a bowl with water.Then Gideon said to God,“ Let not your anger burn against me; let me speak just once more. Please let me test just once more with the fleece. Please let it be dry on the fleece only, and on all the ground let there be dew.”And God did so that night; and it was dry on the fleece only, and on all the ground there was dew.

But he said,“ O Lord God, how am I to know that I shall possess it?”He said to him,“ Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”And he brought him all these, cut them in half, and laid each half over against the other. But he did not cut the birds in half.And when birds of prey came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, dreadful and great darkness fell upon him.Then the Lord said to Abram,“ Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years.But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions.As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age.And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.

And Hezekiah said to Isaiah,“ What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?”And Isaiah said,“ This shall be the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing that he has promised: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?”And Hezekiah answered,“ It is an easy thing for the shadow to lengthen ten steps. Rather let the shadow go back ten steps.”And Isaiah the prophet called to the Lord, and he brought the shadow back ten steps, by which it had gone down on the steps of Ahaz.

Then Moses answered,“ But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say,‘ The Lord did not appear to you.’”The Lord said to him,“ What is that in your hand?” He said,“ A staff.”And he said,“ Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses ran from it.But the Lord said to Moses,“ Put out your hand and catch it by the tail”— so he put out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand—“ that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”Again, the Lord said to him,“ Put your hand inside your cloak.” And he put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous like snow.Then God said,“ Put your hand back inside your cloak.” So he put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh.“ If they will not believe you,” God said,“ or listen to the first sign, they may believe the latter sign.If they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground, and the water that you shall take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground.”

“ This shall be the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing that he has promised:Behold, I will make the shadow cast by the declining sun on the dial of Ahaz turn back ten steps.” So the sun turned back on the dial the ten steps by which it had declined.
