因为耶和华在火中降临到西奈山，整座山都冒着浓烟，滚滚上腾，好像一个大火窑，整座山都震动起来。

在天下之主耶和华面前，群山如蜡熔化。

在祂面前，群山震动，丘陵消融。在祂面前，大地隆起，世界和世上的一切都战栗。

群山看见你就战栗，大雨倾盆，深渊翻腾，波浪滔天。

你们并非来到那座摸得到、有火焰、乌云、黑暗、狂风、

愿你裂天而降！愿群山在你面前战抖！求你使敌人认识你的威名，使列国在你面前颤抖，如火烧干柴使水沸腾。你曾降临，行超乎我们预料的可畏之事，那时群山在你面前战抖。

你们来到山脚下，站在那里，山上烈焰冲天、乌云密布、极其幽暗。耶和华在火焰中对你们说话，你们只听见祂的声音，却看不见祂的形象。

大山如公羊一般跳跃，小山像羊羔一样蹦跳。

那时，在西奈山的上帝面前，在以色列的上帝面前，大地震动，诸天降雨。

那时雷电交加，号角嘹亮，山上冒烟，百姓看见此情景，都吓得浑身颤抖，不敢挨近。

“这是耶和华在山上的烈火、乌云和幽暗中高声颁布给你们全体会众的诫命。此外，祂没有说别的。祂把这些话写在两块石版上交给我。当时，山上燃烧着烈焰，你们听见声音从黑暗中传来。你们各支派的首领和长老都到我跟前，说，‘看啊，我们的上帝耶和华向我们彰显了祂的荣耀和威严，我们听见了祂从火中发出的声音。今天我们已经看见，人听见上帝说话后还能活着。但我们何必冒死，被这烈火吞噬呢？我们若再次听到我们的上帝耶和华的声音，必然丧命。
