Some came from Ephraim, whose roots were in Amalek; Benjamin was with the people who followed you. From Makir captains came down, from Zebulun those who bear a commander’s staff.

Some came from the part of Ephraim where some Amalekites lived. Some from Benjamin were with the people who followed Ephraim. Captains came down from Makir. Those who rule like commanders came down from Zebulun.

From Ephraim their root they marched down into the valley, following you, Benjamin, with your kinsmen; from Machir marched down the commanders, and from Zebulun those who bear the lieutenant’s staff;

They came down from Ephraim— a land that once belonged to the Amalekites; they followed you, Benjamin, with your troops. From Makir the commanders marched down; from Zebulun came those who carry a commander’s staff.

Those with their roots in Amalek came from Ephraim; Benjamin came with your people after you. The leaders came down from Machir, and those who carry a marshal’s staff came from Zebulun.

Those whose root is in Amalek came out of Ephraim, after you, Benjamin, among your peoples. Governors come down out of Machir. Those who handle the marshal’s staff came out of Zebulun.

那時亞瑪力人來在利非訂、同以色列人交戰。摩西對約書亞說：『你為我們揀選人、出去和亞瑪力人交戰；明天我要站在山岡上，手裏拿着上帝的手杖。』於是約書亞照摩西對他所說的去行，和亞瑪力人交戰；摩西、亞倫跟戶珥都上了山岡。儘摩西將手舉起的時候，以色列人就得勝；儘他讓手歇息的時候，亞瑪力人就得勝。但摩西的兩手一發沉，他們就拿石頭、放在他下面、讓他坐在那上頭；亞倫跟戶珥扶着摩西的兩手，一個在這邊，一個在那邊，摩西的兩手就穩住，直到日落的時候。約書亞用刀砍倒了亞瑪力和他的人民。永恆主對摩西說：『我要將亞瑪力這名號從天下全塗抹掉：你要將這話寫在卷冊上做備忘錄，又念給約書亞聽。』摩西築了一座祭壇，起名叫「耶和華尼西」，說：『我舉手指着永恆主的寶座來起誓：永恆主必世世代代跟亞瑪力人爭戰。』

她住在以法蓮山地、拉瑪與伯特利之間、在底波拉棕樹下；以色列人都上她那裏去聽判斷。她打發人從拿弗他利的基低斯將亞比挪菴的兒子巴拉召了來，對他說：『永恆主以色列的上帝豈不是吩咐了你說：你去向他泊山進軍，從拿弗他利人和西布倫人中取一萬人和你一同去麼？

巴拉就招聚西布倫人和拿弗他利人到基低斯，跟他上去的有一萬人；底波拉也和他一同上去。

底波拉對巴拉說：『你起來；今日是永恆主將西西拉交在你手的日子；永恆主不是在你前面出戰麼？』於是巴拉從他泊山下來；跟隨他的有一萬人。
