這時，來了另外一群牧人要把她們趕走。摩西便起來幫助她們，打水飲她們的羊群。她們回到父親流珥那裡，父親問她們：「你們今天怎麼這麼快就回來了？」她們答道：「有一個埃及人救我們免遭牧人的欺負，還幫我們打水飲羊群。」

你們必須把二人帶到城門口，用石頭打死他們。那女子該死，因為她在城中卻沒有高聲呼救；那男子該死，因為他姦污了別人的妻子。你們必須除去你們中間的罪惡。

以色列人選擇新的神明，便戰禍臨門，四萬以色列人中找不到一矛一盾。

基拉耳的牧人與以撒的牧人爭吵起來，都說：「這口井是我們的。」於是，以撒便稱那口井為埃色。後來，以撒的僕人又挖了一口井，他們雙方又為那口井發生爭執，以撒便稱那口井為西提拿。以撒離開那裡，又挖了一口水井。這次，他們沒有為那口井爭吵。所以，以撒稱那口井為利河伯。以撒說：「如今耶和華給了我們一個寬闊的地方，我們可以在這裡繁榮興旺。」

「那時，我去城門口，到廣場就坐，

他們要訴說你的厚恩，歌頌你的公義。

你們必從救恩的泉源歡然取水。

曠野中殺機四伏，我們冒著生命危險才得到糧食。

「你站在耶和華殿的門口這樣宣告，『從這些門進殿敬拜耶和華的猶大人啊，你們要聽耶和華的話。

祂必使審判官公正斷案，賜力量給守城退敵之人。
