押沙龙常常早晨起来，站在城门的路旁，任何人有争讼要去求王判决，押沙龙就叫他过来，说：“你是哪一城的人？”他说：“仆人是以色列某支派的人。”押沙龙就对他说：“看，你的案件合情合理，无奈王没有委派人听你申诉。”押沙龙又说：“恨不得我作这地的审判官！凡有争讼的人可以到我这里来，我必秉公判断。”若有人近前来要拜押沙龙，押沙龙就伸手拉住他，亲吻他。以色列中，凡到王那里求判决的，押沙龙都这么做。这样，押沙龙暗中赢得了以色列人的心。

耶和华如此说：“在拉玛听见号啕痛哭的声音，是拉结哭她儿女，不肯因她儿女受安慰，因为他们都不在了。”
