他重新建築他父親希西家所拆毀的丘壇，為諸巴力築壇，造亞舍拉，又敬拜天上的萬象，事奉它們。

「但你要謹慎，殷勤保守你的心靈，免得忘記你親眼所看見的事，又免得在你一生的年日這些事離開你的心，總要把它們傳給你的子子孫孫。

現在你要派人去召集以色列眾人，以及耶洗別所供養的四百五十個巴力的先知和四百個亞舍拉的先知，叫他們都上迦密山到我這裏來。」

亞哈又造亞舍拉，他所做的惹耶和華－以色列的神發怒，比他以前所有的以色列王更嚴重。

「你為耶和華－你的神築壇，不可在壇旁栽種任何樹木作亞舍拉，

又打碎柱像，砍下亞舍拉，用人的骨頭填滿那地方。

他作王第八年，尚且年輕，就尋求他祖先大衛的神。到了十二年，他開始潔淨猶大和耶路撒冷，除掉丘壇、亞舍拉、雕刻的像和鑄造的像。

拆毀祭壇，把亞舍拉和雕刻的像打碎成灰，砍斷以色列全地所有的香壇。於是他回耶路撒冷去了。
