我下來、是要援救他們脫離埃及人的手，領他們出那地，上美好寬闊之地，流奶與蜜之地，迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人的地方。

他們不照永恆主所吩咐他們的、去消滅外族之民，反而和外國人混雜嫁娶，學習他們的行為，事奉他們的偶像：這就成了餌誘自己的網羅。他們宰獻了自己的兒子和女兒給魔鬼，流了無辜人的血，他們兒女的血，他們所宰獻給迦南之偶像的；那地就因血而被沾污了。

迦南生了長子西頓，又生赫、和耶布斯人、亞摩利人、革迦撒人、希未人、亞基人、西尼人、亞瓦底人、洗瑪利人、哈馬人，後來迦南的宗族分散了。

以法蓮也沒有把住基色的迦南人趕出；於是迦南人仍住在基色、在以法蓮中間。西布倫沒有把基倫的居民和拿哈拉的居民趕出；於是迦南人仍住在西布倫中間，成了作苦工的人。亞設沒有把亞柯的居民和西頓的居民趕出，也沒有把亞黑拉、亞革悉、黑巴、亞弗革、和利合的居民趕出；於是亞設人住在那地的居民迦南人中間，因為他們沒有把他們趕出。

『永恆主你的上帝領你進入你正要去而取得為業之地，從你面前肅清了許多國的人、就是赫人、革迦撒人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人、七國的人，都比你多、比你強；

就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫人、比利洗人、高身漢種的人、亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人、之地。』

你見他在你面前心裏忠信可靠，你就同他立約，要把迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、耶布斯人、革迦撒人之地賜給他的後裔；你並且實行了你的話，因為你很有義氣。
