The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

But his father and his mother knew not that it[ was] of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

And Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah,[ even] unto great Zidon;

The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

[ And to] the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and[ to] the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and[ to] the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish.

So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.And the hand of the children of Israel prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that[ were] therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and[ there was] no magistrate in the land, that might put[ them] to shame in[ any] thing; and they[ were] far from the Zidonians, and had no business with[ any] man.

And the golden mice,[ according to] the number of all the cities of the Philistines[ belonging] to the five lords,[ both] of fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great[ stone of] Abel, whereon they set down the ark of the LORD:[ which stone remaineth] unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Bethshemite.

And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.
